Beautiful Fall Foliage in Central Pennsylvania

Beautiful Fall Foliage in Central PennsylvaniaEvery year when Autumn rolls around we like to get outside and enjoy the cooler weather before winter sets in. You’ll often find us out walking, hiking, biking, boating, etc. It’s nice to be outdoors enjoying the fresh air, getting some much needed exercise and of course…enjoying the colorful show that mother nature puts on every year.

In south central Pennsylvania we hit our Fall Foliage peek from mid October to early November depending on the weather and temperatures. This year we hit our peek this week and wow…it has been beautiful. Our peek time will last approximately one week and then things start turning ugly. The leaves will soon drop to the ground and the trees will get naked.

Even within city limits we can get out and enjoy the show. A lot of our neighborhood parks have beautiful landscapes where you can go to see the show. I enjoy walking the trails and sitting on the park bench just admiring all of the beauty around me.

Our city is located in a valley and within a 15 to 20 minute drive we can be in the mountains. We have several state parks within a 20 minute drive and we enjoy visiting them during this time of the year. Many of those parks host events during the Autumn season which are free to attend.

How many of you enjoy going out to see Fall Foliage every year? Do you have any favorite spots that you enjoy visiting? We enjoy taking a drive up to State College or the Pocono Mountains in October every year. We can enjoy the foliage on the way up and back…plus those areas hold a lot of Fall festivities like hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin picking & decorating, guided nature walks, craft fairs, etc.
