Do you have a favorite vacation destination? I do! My “happy place” is the Jersey Shore, in particular the Stone Harbor, North Wildwood, and Cape May areas. I’ve been visiting the Jersey Shore at least once a year for the past 47 years! I know some people prefer other beach destinations, but this is my personal happy place to be!
Today I wanted to share with you three photographs that I took on one of my recent trips down to the beach.
In the first photograph you’re going to see the Hereford Inlet and in the background the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. The photograph was taken in North Wildwood where the inlet and the ocean come together. It’s one of my favorite places to go to when I’m down at the shore shelling. Yes, I love to go shelling and I’m a big time seashell collector. The area is right behind the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse and the North Wildwood Seawall.
In the second photo your going to see the bay side of the island. In other words…the back bay area. This area is great for those who want to go kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, fishing, jet skiing, etc. A lot of people will take their fishing boats and pontoon boats out into the water through the back bay area. On beautiful weather days you can get some incredible looking sunsets since it faces west.
The third photograph above shows you the harbor between Wildwood and Cape May. This is where a lot of the big fishing boats, ships, and barges come to dock. They will unload their catch and sell it to the local restaurants and fish markets in the area. Right up the street from the harbor is the Bumble Bee Tuna Plant where they harvest the freshly caught tuna and prepare it for the retail marketplace and grocery stores.
I typically show you a lot of the tourist attractions when we travel, so this time I thought I would do something a little different. I thought it would be fun to share with you some water photographs off the beaten path. Hope you enjoy!
These are interesting photos. I would love to have fresh fish caught at the shore.
What a lovely place to visit. Makes me wish I lived closer to the ocean.
Great photos! I have only been to one beach but there’s others that I want to visit
I love going to the coast here in our area that is my happy place but I haven’t been there in a few years and I am way overdue I need to go soon for my soul. This looks like a great place to visit and I enjoyed seeing the pictures.
