Six years ago I had a total right hip replacement. A year and a half ago I had a total left knee replacement. I will need my other hip and knee replaced within the next few years. By the time all of this is done I will have had all four of those major joints replaced. Sad, but true.
One thing that I’ve learned is that I can no longer wear high heels. I now need to wear shoes that are comfortable on my feet, preferably with supportive memory foam insoles and ones that give me good balance.
The past few months I’ve been going out shopping to replace the majority of my footwear. I’m really picky about the shoes that I put onto my feet, so it has been a long process replacing my shoes! I want quality-made shoes, boots and sandals but they need to be affordable. I rarely pay full price for anything. I’m a bargain and frugal shopper!
Last month I struck gold when I went into Gabe’s department store and found a slew of women’s footwear on clearance. When I say clearance, I don’t mean 10 or 15% off. That’s not a big deal to me. They had a large aisle of women’s footwear that was on clearance for 35% to 80% off retail list prices. All were brand names that I was familiar with too.
I purchased a pair of women’s leather sandals with memory foam insoles in black which I desperately needed. I also picked up a pair of women’s black ballerina-style dress shoes and a pair of women’s gray microfiber pull-on boots with a faux-fur lining. The bad thing is that they didn’t have a lot of sizing or quantity in each style left. It took me an hour to just find these 3 pairs of shoes.
So, let’s get down to business. All three pairs still had their original retail price tags on them. If I had purchased them in the regular retail department (brand) store I would of paid a little over $97.00 for all three. However, I purchased them at Gabe’s (similar to a TJMAXX-type of store) and got all three pairs for ONLY $27.00. Yes, that’s right…only $27.00 for all three pairs!!!

Your bargain was a great bargain. I did find a few good items at Kohl’s. I was able to buy 12 tops and 3 bottoms for $40.

That’s a great trip for all these shoes. I gave up heels many years ago and I still have all my joints.
