Family Visit to the Jersey Shore Alpaca Farm
The Jersey Shore Alpaca Farm is located in Cape May County, New Jersey. Last year we visited the farm and this year we went back for a return visit. This time around we took along our adult daughter (Jenelle), both of the grandchildren (Prince and Princess), and my mother Carol. In other words…the family.
Both of my grandchildren adore Alpacas and seen them for the first time two years ago at the PA Farm Show. Ever since…they’ve been fascinated with them. Alpacas are their third favorite animal with horses and sloths coming in first and second.
At the farm we paid for a private farm tour and got up close and personal with the alpacas for an hour. We were able to feed them carrot sticks (their favorite snack) and pet them. All of them were extremely friendly. During our visit the tour guide educated us on Alpacas and we learned about where they come from, how to take care of them, their mating & birthing habits, what they like to eat, about their health, how long they live, what kind of things are made from their hair (fur), and all sorts of things.
Did you know that when Alpacas get excited or scared that they can spit? Thankfully, none of them spit on us and were really well behaved. With that said, we kept teasing the Princess that she was going to get spit on! LOL
My granddaughter fell in-love with a blind alpaca named Tiger, my grandson loved a handsome male alpaca named Panda, and I was completely in-love with a beautiful female named Maybeline. She had the prettiest eyelashes ever!!!
We enjoy taking the grandchildren to small farms and petting zoos which really allow them to get up close and personal with the animals, unlike big zoos and wildlife parks. I find that they learn a lot more and its a better educational experience for them.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these few photographs from our visit to the Jersey Shore Alpaca Farm. We had a great time!!!
