7 New Thoughts About Commercial Photographers That Will Turn Your World Upside Down

September 18, 2019 by Sam H.

7 New Thoughts About Commercial PhotographersWhen you’re looking through it from an outsider’s perspective, creating a photography business looks so simple. After all, you just need a great eye, the right equipment, and a website to promote your portfolio and services. BUT, becoming the Best photographer in Brisbane is more complicated than it looks.

Without the proper commercial photography plan, it ends up with you struggling to find clients and making ends meet. So yes, there’s, even more, to think about when becoming a commercial photographer.

So read on as I show you the new thoughts on such commercial photographers to learn more about them!

Seven New Thoughts On Commercial Photographers
What is it like being a commercial photographer? Here are what commercial photographers think about today:

1. Your Site Needs a LOT Of Optimized Pages
A lot of commercial photographers think that the only things they need for their website is the homepage, portfolio, and an about page. Sure, this s a great way to let clients know who you are and what you’re capable of. BUT, this ends up looking more of a resume than a marketing tool!

One new thing commercial photographers need to do is to optimize their website, expanding it to rank high on search engine pages. How else would people be able to see you beyond connections?

2. You Need the RELEVANT Content
When marketing your commercial photography business, you’ll learn that the secret is content. Photos give clients what to expect, but they surely won’t be searching for album names online, such as “Nick and Kate’s Wedding 2019!”

Commercial photographers now do new content strategies, showing visitors the techniques you use for taking photos, what you can do for clients, and more about your craft. This shows people how well-versed you are about your career and provides you higher ranking online for the market.

3. Stay Social and Connect With People
It’s crucial for commercial photographers, or all types of photographers really, to stay social and active. Not only should you create connections in tents and in the outside world, but online as well. But remember, there’s more to being social and active than just publishing content.

It’s time to build relationships with your target audiences and returning clients, which will really help in widening your networks. That’s why social media accounts are a must now.

4. It’s a New Adventure and You Meet Many People
There are a ton of perks to commercial photography that many don’t know about. Not only do you get to get out of your comfort zone, but you also get to work with so many new people. You meet a lot of new faces not just for networking, but for experience and memories you’ll cherish and save forever.

Whether you get assigned to shoot in a whole different country or capture the precious moments of families, it’s truly a new adventure each time.

5. But There Are Hardships As Well
Not many people think about the hardships there is to do with photography. You don’t just take photos, but you also have to worry about the outcome, any issues that may arise, as well as the job security! Even the most reputable photographers worry and suffer a great deal of hardships as well.

You’ll be putting in a lot of effort along the way, and sometimes, you won’t even be shooting but working on the final touches on your laptop.

6. You Have to Love What You Do
Like mentioned, commercial photography has its hardships, from thinking up of creative shots down to salvaging any “problem” photos. Whatever may be the case, you can only continue with passion and the drive to learn.

Without the love or passion for photography, the less creative things get, the less drive you have, and the slower things seem to be. That’s the reason why some commercial photographers don’t make it!

7. Continue to Work, Give Your All and MORE
Commercial photography isn’t just shooting with a camera, as I always say. You’ll also be working against a ton of competition, trying to get yourself up and beyond the rest. If you want to succeed in the industry, you’ll need to give OVER 100%, and though you’ll end up compromising the personal matters sometimes, it’s worth it.

Wrapping It Up
Life as a commercial photographer isn’t as easy as you think, but with better practice and more perspective, you can get on top of things! So if you want to start improving as a commercial photographer, then it’s time to start learning more on skills and reaping the rewards from it.

Hopefully, this article on commercial photographers helped you learn more about the industry. This is just the start of getting ahead in your photography game, so continue getting into your career plans now!
