A few weeks ago our family was down in Wildwood, New Jersey enjoying one of our many summer vacations. Every June we go down to North Wildwood to soak up the sun on the beach and to visit some of the local tourist attractions. We’ve been visiting the island several times every year since 2000.
Every year in North Wildwood they hold an Italian American street festival during the month of June. It’s a 3-day festival that starts on Friday and ends on Sunday. They block off several city blocks and its 100% free to attend.
During the festival you can shop from some of the vendors who line up on the street and from local businesses in the area. You can buy jewelry, t-shirts, handmade crafts, home decor items, artwork, collectibles, etc. There are food trucks for those who want to grab a quick bite to eat.
At the end of one street they have a stage set up for the live entertainment. They have bands that play music and in between those performances you’ll find a DJ spinning great tunes. Some people sit and listen to the music while others will get up and dance. Children are welcome to dance too!
There are some activities available for the kids like face painting, games, etc. It’s a family-friendly festival but MOST activities & entertainment is geared towards adults. There are local restaurants and sport’s bars that line those streets, so there is drinking and partying going on. Just want to make others aware of that. We took both of our grandchildren and had no issues at all.
This was our first time attending the Italian American street festival and we’re looking forward to attending again next year. From one of the food truck vendors I purchased something called a fried steak on a stick and oh my gosh…it was delicious! I’ve been craving another one ever since!
Hope you enjoy a few photographs from our visit! We had a fabulous time!!!
I think that it would be a lot of fun to go to this Italian American festival.
I love street festivals like this. There’s something fun for everyone.
I bet his was fun! I love Italian food and to experience some of the culture would be interesting. We have an Irish fest here and Norwegian and Czech as well as Danish close by. Seeing these activities and festivals during the summer are always neat places to go.
I would love to go to an Italian American Festival, especially since I am Italian! This one looks like a lot of fun also!
