Every year we take our family down to North Wildwood in New Jersey for a family vacation. I’ve been visiting the Jersey Shore yearly for the past 45 years and just love the Ocean City, Stone Harbor, North Wildwood and Cape May areas. Hubby and I go down about 4-5 times a year and treat the family to one of those visits.
North Wildwood has its own unique vibe and has the prettiest beaches along the Jersey Coast. Plus, they’re free! That’s right…you don’t have to buy beach tags or pay an admission to laze around on their beaches! They’re well-kept, clean, sandy, wide and just beautiful.
One of my favorite activities to enjoy while down at the beach is shelling. I collect seashells and I’m always on the hunt for new ones to add to my collection. On top of that, I’m a crafter and I use tons and tons of shells in my craft and home decor projects. I enjoy walking the beach right after breakfast and again in the evening after dinner.
We’re big into coastal conversation and will often volunteer our time to help save the sea turtles, dolphins and horseshoe crabs. We’ve been teaching our grandchildren on how to check if a horseshoe crab is alive or deceased and what to do if they find one alive laying on the beach. As you can see in the one photograph…hubby and Princess returned one to the water.
If you enjoy seeing lighthouses you’ll find the victorian-style Hereford Inlet Lighthouse located on the island. It’s one of my favorite lighthouses to visit. They have beautiful flower gardens that you can walk around for free. They have a small butterfly garden that my grandchildren love to visit.
I’m a big lover of dolphins and there is a seating area on the North Wildwood Seawall that is perfect for dolphin watching. Almost every time we’re down at the beach we spot our friends swimming up and down the coast…a few hundred yards offshore. In my honest opinion, its the best place on the island if you want to go dolphin watching.
Today I wanted to share a few photographs with you from one of our recent beach trips down to North Wildwood in New Jersey. As you can see…our entire family likes to tag along and we enjoy having them along with us! Precious family memories to last us a lifetime!
It is wonderful that the beaches are kept so clean. I would love to visit there and look for seashells too. It is great to be able to see dolphins.
Very beautiful beaches. I know you have to go there very often to keep up on your seashell collection.
How lucky to get to see dolphins. We have been fortunate enough to see orcas several times when we have taken the ferry. It is amazing to watch them.
It does look like a fun time. I’ve never been to the Jersey shore but it looks beautiful.
Your post reminds me of my childhood vacations to the beaches of Cape Cod. My mother loved the Cape, and she also loved Wildwood and Cape May, which she visited later in life with her senior citizens group. Looking at your pictures, I can certainly see the attraction! It looks like you all had a great time.
We did! We have four more trips down to the beach house scheduled before mid October but the rest will be without the family. We only take them with us once per year and then the rest of the time its alone time with the hubby.
