We all know that oats are good for us, but Happy Day Brands takes oats to a whole new level with their Superfood Oat blends by combining whole oats with superfood grains, dried fruit, nuts, and seeds, flavored with spices and sea salt. These all-natural blends come in four varieties:
• Original Flavor Superfood Oats Plus, 16-ounce bags: Oats, teff, chia seeds, hemp seeds, golden flax, red quinoa, amaranth, quinoa flakes, and sea salt.
• Cranberry Pumpkin Seed Superfood Oatmeal, 11.3-ounce bags and 2.35-ounce cups: Same ingredients as the Original, plus pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries, dried apples, cinnamon, and allspice.
• Blueberry Almond Chai Superfood Oatmeal, 11.3-ounce bags and 2.35-ounce cups: Same ingredients as the Original, plus almonds, dried blueberries, crystallized ginger, and chai spice.
• Maple Pecan Spice Superfood Oatmeal, 11.3-ounce bags and 2.35-ounce cups: Same ingredients as the Original, plus pecan pralines, figs, cinnamon, and cloves.
Whether you choose the bags or cups, all of the Superfood Oats varieties are quick-cooking. The cups are designed for easy preparation either by adding water and microwaving or by stirring in boiling water, with a handy fill line on the cup so you know how much liquid to add. The bagged versions can be measured out and microwaved or cooked on the stovetop; the directions call for using equal amounts of Superfood Oats and liquid, but my personal preference is to use a higher percentage of liquid, since I like my oatmeal on the looser side. I also found that adding a pinch of salt helped heighten the flavor, but again, that’s just my preference.
I really like the ease of preparation of the Superfood Oats. It’s as simple as making those packets of instant oatmeal, but the results are nothing like those mushy oats. Happy Day Brands Superfood Oats are full of flavor and contrasting textures, not to mention the superior nutrition of these non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free oatmeals. Although I liked the Original flavor, I have to say that I enjoyed the other versions more, with their warm spices, nuts, and dried fruits.
In addition to their Superfood Oat products, Happy Day Brands produces coffees, pancake and waffle mixes, and chocolate, all of which are available at their website. We’ll soon have another post featuring Happy Day Brands coffees, where we’ll tell you more about this Idaho-based company and their “buy one give one” program. In the meantime, do check them out on Facebook.
