Every month we like to get together as a family and host a family game night. We will sometimes hold them at my house or at my parent’s home. We serve finger foods, beverages, and then get down to business. Our only requirements are that the games have to be family-friendly and take less than 90 minutes to play. We enjoy a lot of the classics, but are always looking for new games to add to our collection.

There’s a brand new game available called the Root Beer Float Challenge and you can find it at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and at various other retailers. It uses a unique game play strategy as players look to win the game by completing a series of solo, head-to-head, and cooperative challenges using the ingredients of a Root Beer Float.
Created by the team of best-selling game designers, Brady Peterson and Tim Swindle, The Root Beer Float Challenge is intended to get people moving and active while playing a family fun, interactive game. “The RBFC is partially inspired by popular social media challenges that have gone viral. The theme of the Root Beer Float gives us the elements for obscure challenges with silly staged components that make the game ‘laugh-out-loud’ fun,” Swindle said.
To play The Root Beer Float Challenge (MSRP $19.99), 2-8 players ages 8 and up take turns competing in various Solo, Cooperative, and Head-to-Head challenges. If you complete the challenge successfully, you earn an ingredient card. But if you fail the challenge, your float will be sunk until your next challenge is achieved. The object of the game is to be the first player to build a complete Root Beer Float (root beer, ice cream, cherry and straw) and be named The Root Beer Float Challenge Champion!
One of the really cool things about this game is its packaging! The game is packaged in an over-sized tin root beer can. Inside the package (the tin can) you’ll find 120 Challenge Cards, 80 Ingredient Cards, 1 Ice Cream Ball, 2 replica Cherries, 4 Straws, and 1 Challenge Die.
During our most recent family game night we had 4 adults and 2 children playing the game. It’s the perfect sized game to play at your kitchen table, on the floor, or take it along with you when you travel. It all stores inside that root beer tin can and doesn’t take up a lot of space. Matter of fact, the packaging is so cute that I would leave it sit out on display instead of tucking the game away. Just Saying!
Game play goes along fairly quickly and everyone had a great time! We had fun laughing at one another and just spending some quality time together. Regarding ages…the youngest player is almost 4 years old and the oldest was 70. In my honest opinion, it’s the perfect family game because both children and adults will enjoy playing it. Let’s face it, we all get tired of playing those “kiddie games” over and over. The Root Beer Float Challenge is fun, engaging, and entertaining.

This is the first time I have heard of this game. It looks like it would b a lot of fun for everyone in the family.
This looks fun. I like how such a wide age range enjoyed it. I am also really impressed you can go solo, head to hed or collaborate.
I haven’t seen this game before, but it looks like fun. Of course, I’d need a real root beet float, too, lol.
