Experience the Best of Nature in Beautiful South Lake Tahoe

Beautiful South Lake Tahoe in CaliforniaHow many of you have ever visited South Lake Tahoe in California? If you’ve never visited the area…you’re really missing out! While we were on a road trip through the great state of California we had the opportunity to spend 36 hours in the area. Oh my gosh…such a beautiful place to visit.

South Lake Tahoe is a city that sits along the southern shores of the world-famous Lake Tahoe. Tourists flock to the are during the summertime to enjoy camping, hiking, rock climbing, boating, horseback riding, fishing, etc. During the summer season they experience low humidity and temperatures between 75-90 degrees. The perfect weather to enjoy outdoor activities.

During the winter season they do get snow…about 140″ of snowfall per year. So, if you enjoy cold weather activities such as skiing, sledding, snow boarding, snow tubing, ice fishing, etc. you’ll love visiting the area during the wintertime too.

We decided to take a 3 1/2 hour hike and were treated to some breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Nevada Mountains. When people think of California they often envision a desert environment.  However, California has a lot of different terrains and climates, especially in northern and eastern part’s of the state.

After our afternoon of hiking we found a really nice place to enjoy dinner and then visited some of the tourist shops that were nearby. You can find some really unique items for yourself or as gifts by visiting some of the little mom & pop type’s of shops and boutiques. I picked up a few holiday gifts while we were there.

We really LOVED and I mean LOVED the area!!! We enjoyed it a lot and are already planning a return (longer visit) for later next year. South Lake Tahoe is definitely a place you want to add to your travel bucket list.
