Disney’s Cinderella is one of those movie classics that every child loves. Little girls love to dress-up as Cinderella and act out their own “little Princess” stories while pretending to be one of Disney’s most-beloved characters. I can remember dressing up as Cinderella one year for Halloween and that same year my parent’s hosted a Cinderella theme birthday party for me. As a little girl…I just loved her and inspired to be her.

Recently added to the prestigious National Film Registry, the animated classic centers on kind and hardworking Cinderella, who is ordered around by her cruel stepmother, her awful stepsisters — even the big clock in the church tower tells her when to start another day of drudgery. But they can’t stop her from dreaming, and Cinderella has faith that someday her wishes will come true.
When an invitation to the royal ball arrives, Cinderella is sure her time has come — until her stepsisters, with the encouragement of Lady Tremaine, tear her gown to shreds. Just when Cinderella believes all is lost, her Fairy Godmother appears, and with a wave of her wand and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” transforms an ordinary pumpkin into a magnificent coach and Cinderella’s rags into a gorgeous gown, then sends her off to the Royal Ball. But Cinderella’s enchanted evening must end when the spell is broken at midnight. It will take the help of her daring animal mice friends and a perfect fit into a glass slipper to create the ultimate fairy tale ending.

Last weekend I sat down to watch this Disney classic with my 10 year old daughter and 3 1/2 year old son. My daughter has been a fan of Cinderella since the age of 2 but this was the first time that my son has seen the movie. I wasn’t too sure if he would like it since he’s a boy, but let me tell you…he loves the movie just as much as my daughter. It’s a great movie for children of this age.
We host regular family movie nights and the classic movie Cinderella is a nice movie to add to your viewing list. If you go to your local party supply store you can find all kinds of Cinderella items to go along with your movie viewing party. We found plastic “glass” slippers that were beverage cups, paper plates, napkins, etc. We enjoyed pizza and popcorn all served on the party supplies that I was able to pick up which enhanced the theme of our little family movie night.
One of the best things about the Anniversary Edition DVD is that it comes with over 2 hours of Bonus viewing material. As a parent, I really enjoyed watching the From Rags to Riches: The Making of Cinderella which was really interesting and a great behind-the-scenes look into this classic Disney movie.

I think I would really enjoy sitting down with my grandchildren to watch this movie. It has been so long since I last saw it.
Interesting to think that I’m one year older than Cinderella. She’s been around my whole life.
I haven’t seen this movie in a million years and I think I would like to sit down and watch it again. I can’t believe it has been 70 years that is crazy. This movie is such a classic and one I would love to add to my collection.
