Steeped Coffee – A Great Cup of Coffee, Simple to Make

Imagine that you could make delicious, rich coffee as easily as you can make a cup of tea. Well, now you can! Steeped Coffee is artisan quality coffee in an environmentally friendly single-serving filter bag. Just pour hot water over the bag, dunk it a few times, let it steep for several minutes, and voila! You’ve got yourself a fresh brewed cup of coffee.

If you’re thinking this is just instant coffee in a tea bag, it’s most certainly not. Consider all the factors that go into making it work. Steeped Coffee’s CEO and founder, Josh Wilber, says “There’s a reason this hasn’t been done before. We had to innovate to account for a number of factors such as sourcing ethical and quality beans, getting the right grind size and density, maintaining the freshness of ground coffee, controlling the water permeability of the filter, and making sure everything we do is environmentally sustainable. Turns out there were a lot of challenges to overcome to make something this simple work.”

And it does indeed work. For my review, I received “The Lineup” ten-pack box: Two each of Sunrise Blend light roast, California Blend medium roast, Odyssey Blend dark roast, Driftwood Blend French roast, and Eventide Decaf. Although all are delicious, my favorite is the Sunrise Blend, while my husband’s top pick is the Odyssey Blend. The five different varieties nicely represent the coffee spectrum, and it was fun to have the chance to try them all.

Making a cup of Steeped Coffee was simple, too. I just set my electric kettle to the “coffee” setting of 195°F, slowly poured the hot water over the Steeped Coffee bag in a cup, dunked the bag for the recommended 15 seconds or so to saturate the grounds, then let it steep for about 5 minutes. It’s really convenient, and it would be ideal for situations like camping or RVing, since all that’s required is a cup and a way to heat water.

The Steeped Coffee company sums it up this way: “This direct trade coffee, locally roasted in small batches, is precision ground, pre-measured in single servings, and comes in a special filter bag with a string and tag. Each portion is delivered in a fully compostable nitro sealed packet for freshness, essentially halting the coffee’s aging process so it’s like it was ground within moments.” In addition, Steeped Coffee is kosher, USDA Organic, GMO-free, and vegan.
