Last month I was going through my large seashell collection and decided to make something to decorate for spring and summer. I pulled out a large 5 1/2″ wide clam shell, 5 small slipper shells and a small round pebble. Other than paint and glue, that’s all you will need to make this project.

What is really nice is that you don’t need to be a skilled artist or painter to make this project. You’re using the seashells and pebbles to make-up the artistic design. I was able to complete my seashell in just 2 afternoons (you have to allow for drying time) and I think it turned out beautifully.

Large Floral Painted Seashells for Spring and Summer
Large 5″ Clam Seashell
5 Small Slipper Seashells
1 Small Smooth Round Pebble
Metallic Craft Paint: Blue, Purple and Red
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
E6000 Adhesive Glue
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer – Glossy Finish
Paint your large clam shell with 2 coats of metallic blue paint. While it’s drying you’ll want to paint the outside of each slipper shell with purple metallic paint and the round pebble with red metallic paint. Let everything dry for about 2 hours.
Use the E6000 Adhesive Glue to attach them in a flower pattern onto your large clam shell. The slipper seashells are tear drop shaped which forms the perfect flower petals. I suggest putting on the smooth pebble first and then adding your flower petals around it. Let dry for 2-3 hours.
Take your seashell outside. To protect the painted finish you’ll want to spray 1-2 coats of clear acrylic sealer on top. Let dry for 2-3 hours. This will allow you to display your seashells inside or outside your home. It will protect the painted finish for several years from chipping, cracking or fading.
When at the beach you’ll want to collect a slew of little seashells and smooth pebbles. They come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. Bring them home, wash them up and use them to decorate your larger seashells. You can do all kinds of different floral designs!
I agree that your seashell looks beautiful. The colors make it stand out beautifully.
Getting to the beach and picking up some shells is on my list for this month. Hoping to find a day to take my grandchildren along for the fun.
So Pretty~ You still have that magic touch~ :0)

These would be great table decorations for Summer outdoor get-togethers. I like the bright Summer colors.
