My family enjoys visiting various zoos, wildlife parks, aquariums and animal rescues up and down the east coast. We’re animal lovers and believe in animal education and conservation. Every time we travel down to Virginia we like to stop into the Virginia Safari Park and Zoo, located in Natural Bridge, VA. It’s one of the largest safari parks on the east coast.
A few months ago we visited the park for the third time in five years. Every time we go we learn something knew and see something that keeps us coming back for more. Its a beautiful park that your entire family (no matter the age) will enjoy. If you don’t live nearby, its definitely worth the drive.
When visiting you can choose to just visit the zoo or the safari park….but we recommend doing both! You’ll want to set aside a least 4 hours in your schedule so that you can experience both of them and everything that they have to offer. Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
What are some of your favorite animals to see? We had the opportunity to see kangaroos, giraffes, penguins, buffalo, deer, various primates, tigers, rhinos, llamas, turtles and tortoises, all kinds of different snakes….you know…the typical animals you see at a large zoo or wildlife park. A beautiful collection of animals to see with well-kept exhibits.
Today I wanted to share a few photographs from our latest visit. I previously featured them here on the blog and you can check out our Virginia Safari Park and Zoo post from the summer of 2018 to learn and see more! We highly recommend this park to you and it makes for a GREAT family-friendly outing while visiting or passing through the great state of Virginia.
I definitely would want to visit both the zoo and safari park. I have not seen bison in a zoo very often.
I bet kids would love seeing the penguins, lol. Penguins are just fun!
It looks like you really get an opportunity to see the animals up close. Great photos especially of the bison.
I love visiting zoos like this one. The kids absolutely love it too. Thank you for sharing.
What a fun day’s outing to see all those animals and birds. They even have penguins.
You certainly know when you’re in the presence of a bison! They’re very…memorable!
