Our Fun-Loving Handsome Cat Tucker
Back in late April of 2019 we made the decision to rescue and adopt this handsome boy who showed up on our door step. You can read all about how Tucker arrived here and his full adoption story HERE on our blog.
Over the past several weeks he has fit nicely into our family. We had no idea what to expect since he was running around outside and living on his own for awhile and obviously had come from a home where he was no longer wanted. I’m happy to report that after a week he adjusted nicely to being indoors and has become an important member of our family.
Tucker is a fun-loving, handsome boy! He’s very inquisitive and is always investigating things around him. Recently we learned that he enjoys laying inside of partially opened dresser drawers. We’ve taken an old dresser drawer and filled it up with old towels, socks, etc. Things I usually save and then use as cleaning rags. Well, he’s now made that his personal “cat bed” for when he wants to nap!
We’ve learned over the past few weeks that he can be picky about his food. He loves wet food but it can’t be overly chunky. He likes his finely shredded, very moist and a little gravy. We sometimes mix dry food into it because dry food is good for keeping plaque from building up on their teeth. He loves soft and moist cat treats too!!!
Over the past few weeks we’ve been experimenting with cat toys and having a hard time finding ones that entertain him. The standard plush cat toys with the smell of cat nip don’t interest him at all. He has a little ball with a bell inside it that he likes to play with, his red laser tag toy and his fishing rod toy. We’ll keep looking for some fun toys for him.
He’s a snuggle-butt and loves to snuggle with us! He will crawl up on our lap and sleep like that for hours at a time. When he goes to bed at night he has to be in the bed with us! After a few hours he will get out and lay in his kitty bed which sits on the floor beside our bed. He definitely enjoys the closeness of being around his family.
I wanted to share a few photos with all of you of our beloved Tucker Carlson and would like to encourage people to please ADOPT and not buy their pets! There are millions of pets that need a good home! At our local pet rescue groups we can find beautiful dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes (legal ones), frogs, mice, rats, hedgehogs, all kinds of birds, etc. Please check out rescue groups FIRST before buying a new pet!!!
Anytime you get a new pet YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for its healthcare and that includes getting that pet spayed/neutered. Even if you’re keeping your pet indoors, its important to follow through with vet care and spay/neuters. If you’re not able to adopt/rescue a pet…please consider donating to a local group even if its ONLY $10.00 a year. They can use all of the help that they can get.
We love our little handsome man and I wanted to give you all an update on how things have been going!
