Fun, Frugal, Finds – Big Lots Bargains and Deals

Frugal Finds and Hot DealsLike most women…I enjoy shopping! With that said, I’m all about hunting down the best bargains and deals. Over the past several years I’ve shared several posts here on the blog that feature some of the best bargains that I’ve found. Today, I’m back again to tell you about my latest haul.

On this particular shopping trip I headed to my local Big Lots store. I try to go there once every 8 weeks or so…to hunt down some deals. When I hit my local Big Lots store I always focus my attention on the back-end of the store and at the end of each aisle. In addition, I go shopping on their Friends & Family weekends where you’ll get an extra 10-20% off, even on clearance prices! You need to sign up for their FREE rewards club to be eligible for the extra discount during Friends & Family events.

Okay, let’s talk about the deals and bargains that I snagged on this particular shopping trip to Big Lots!

Spring 2019 Bargains & Deals at Big Lots

1. Door Mat – I needed a small and thin indoor doormat for my back door. I always have to buy “thin ones” so that it clears the weather strip on the bottom of our door. This doormat was originally priced at $12.99 and I got it for $3.00 on clearance.

2. Overnight Oatmeal Cups – My mom loves those overnight oatmeal cups and buys them almost weekly. Our local grocery store sells them for $1.49 per cup but will often put them on sale 10 for $10.00 ($1.00 a piece). Well, we found them on clearance at Big Lots for .50 cents each! They had 6 left so I grabbed all 6. I would of grabbed more if they had them.

3. XXX Brand Chocolate Chip Cookies – We have had this brand before and they’re actually pretty good! Each package typically costs $2.89 each…they were on clearance for $1.00 per package so I grabbed 3 of them!

4. XXX Brand Chocolate Sandwich Cookies – Again, we’ve had this brand before and they’re good…just like the name-brand cookies. Each package typically costs $2.99 each and they were on clearance for $1.00 per package, so I grabbed 3 of them!

5. Suddenly Salad Pasta Mixes – At our local grocery store these boxed salad mixes typically will cost $2.89 to $3.99 per box. We found them on clearance (name brand) marked down to .65 cents per box! Yes, you read that correctly, .65 cents a box so I grabbed 1 of those! (not shown in the picture).

6. Double Cat Food Dish – We recently rescued/adopted a handsome little boy…aka Tucker our new cat!  I found one that was regularly priced for $4.99 marked down on clearance to $1.49 so I grabbed it. (not shown in the picture)

7. Large Plastic Storage Containers – I used to buy the name brand ones found at our local HOME & GARDEN type of store for $9.99 to $14.99 each…but for the past year I’ve been buying them at Big Lots. You can get large sized ones from $7.99 to $9.99 each. Just as nice quality as that famous R-bbermaid brand.

All items were marked down and on clearance! None of them were damaged and the food items were still within their sell-by-dates. On top of the prices listed above, I got another 20% OFF at the register because it was family & friends weekend so I showed my rewards card and got that additional discount. SCORE!!!

If you have a Big Lots near you…check it out. Always look in the back of the store and at the end of the aisles for their marked down goods! Plus, you can really make out like a bandit on seasonal items by hitting them the day after a holiday for BIG clearance deals of 50-80% off on seasonal/holiday items.

You did good! There’s a Big Lots in my town but I rarely shop there. I love a good bargain. That’s a great price for the Suddenly Salad.

  3. Wow you really hit some great deals. We have a Big Lots store here locally and once in a while I go to it and I always leave happy. The last time I was there I noticed that they are really getting in some great home décor items and lots of great pillows.

  4. Have visited before in San Francisco on vacation a lot of fun

  5. There are no Big Lots in our area but I do find deals at our local Safeway and Fred Meyer especially by using the reward card and loading on coupons.

  6. John Smith says

The pasta mixes definitely sound like a great deal! I would want to stock up on those!

  7. Nicely done! Those discount days are a great way to save. One of our local thrift stores gives a discount of 25% off every Tuesday for people of (ahem) a certain age, and last Tuesday I scored a Pampered Chef Family Heritage stoneware mini-loaf pan (four mini-loaves in one pan) marked at $3.25 for less than $2.50 with the discount! Gotta love a good bargain, especially a bargain with a bonus discount.
