Title: Bookies Bookmarks to Crochet
Author: Jonas Matthies
ISBN: 9780486833941
Publisher: Dover Publications

Back in the good old days girls my age had to learn to crochet at a very early age. I was around the age of 10-11 when I picked up a crochet hook for the first time. My mother taught all of us girls how to crochet all of our own hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, sweaters and afghans. That’s how it was done in the 1950’s thru the 1970’s before machine-made items became popular.

Fast forward to 60 years later and I know crochet for fun. I like to sit down and make hats, scarves, afghans and toys for my grandchildren. I crochet hats and scarves for the local senior center and give those away. Its a great way to keep my mind & hands busy, plus a great way to relax after a long day.

Bookies Bookmarks to Crochet Book by Jonas Matthies

Bookies Bookmarks to Crochet is a really nice book that contains fun patterns to create your own bookmarks. Each one comes with clear instructions and full-color photos to help guide you. If you’re new to crochet you’ll find a section in the beginning of the book that will teach you the basic techniques.

Some of the bookmark patterns include: Elmer the Unicorn, Manuel the Mouse, Paul the Horse, Gloria the Giraffe, Filomena the Fox, Gary the Gecko, Felicity the Sloth, Selma the Snake, Luis the Lion and more! All are adorable, so it will be hard to decide on which one to make first. Heck, make them all!

What a really fun book! I’m pretty excited to have this one in my collection and will be working on some new bookmarks for myself & the grandchildren over the summer. The perfect craft projects to work on when its too hot to be outdoors.
