Kumana Avocado Sauce

This versatile condiment brings the slang phrase “awesome sauce” to life. Here’s how Kumana describes it: “Inspired by a beloved Venezuelan staple that is traditionally served on grilled meats, sautéed veggies and sandwiches, Kumana is an avocado hot sauce that’s crafted from veggies and fruits such as avocados, fresh onion, bell pepper, cilantro, garlic and just a splash of vinegar. . . fresh and light, it offers pizazz on everything!”

I have to agree; all three varieties have been absolutely delicious on everything I’ve tried them with. “Be Original” is flavorful with a touch of heat, “Be Hot” kicks that heat up a few notches, and “Be Mango” adds a sweet twist to the flavor mix. My personal favorite is Be Mango, great on a turkey sandwich. Be Original was perfect atop a serving of chicken enchilada casserole, and Be Hot added flavor and creaminess to falafel. I’m looking forward to trying Kumana Avocado Sauce this summer on burgers and other grilled meats and vegetables, as well as weeknight staples like burritos. Honestly, having avocado sauce readily available is a real luxury.

Again, I’ll let the Kumana folks speak for themselves: “Kumana uses real vegetable & fruit purees as a base, giving it a distinguishing taste and positioning itself in the premium & better-for-you categories. We’re also non-GMO verified, use no added sugars, are plant based and gluten free.” One tablespoon of Kumana Avocado Sauce is only 10 calories, which I find amazing, given its full-bodied flavor punch. This tasty condiment definitely deserves its place in my kitchen!

Did you know that a small percentage of people have a gene that makes cilantro taste soapy to them? My husband happens to be one of those people, and since Kumana Avocado Sauce contains cilantro, he doesn’t enjoy it the way I do. It’s a shame for him, but a boon for me (Bwa-ha-ha-ha! More for me!). I mention this so that you’ll be aware of it, on the off chance you’re genetically anti-cilantro. But for the rest of us, Kumana is, as they say in their tag line, “The best sauce you’ve never had.”
