How to Keep Your Home Spic and Span

You have probably heard of the saying that “a clean home is a happy home.” This can be very true indeed. It’s hard to feel relaxed and comfortable if your home is filled with dirt, clutter, and pests. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it can also cause you to be sick due to allergies and the like.

Keeping it completely clean all the time might feel impossible because it would be too exhausting to maintain. But if you follow some of the tips below, it is easier to keep your home spic and span.

How to Keep Your Home Spic and Span

1. Have enough storage all over the house – Have strategic storage placed all over the house so that you can easily hide all the clutter. This is especially helpful if you have kids. All parents know that children’s toys tend to be all over the house. You can place baskets all over the house in places where they usually play. Teach them to pick up their toys and place them in the proper storage area once they are done playing. This will not only lessen your chore, but it’s a good way of teaching them responsibility.

2. Never leave any unwashed dishes in the kitchen sink – The kitchen can be a breeding ground for pests and bacteria. If you have an unclean kitchen, your family might suffer from sickness. It is important that your kitchen be clean all the time. One way to prevent any bacteria or mold is to clean your dishes after every meal.

3. Keep only the things that you need and want – One thing that can make a house seem dirty is all the clutter all over the house. It’s time to do what Marie Kondo does and only keep the things that spark joy in your life. Do a little spring cleaning from time to time and get rid of clothes, furniture or even personal and sentimental items that are making your house seem stuffed.

4. Do a little cleaning every day – What some people do is leave all the cleaning for the weekend. While that is certainly your prerogative, it can get pretty tiring. Instead of enjoying your weekend, all your time will be spent sweeping, dusting and cleaning your whole house. A smarter decision would be to distribute the cleaning throughout the whole week. You can set aside an hour or less of your time each day to do some chores. This way, your house stays tidy and you still have enough time left to enjoy the weekend.

5. Invest in cleaning tools and equipment – Make things a little easier for you by buying cleaning equipment like vacuum cleaners. They are a worthy investment because they can cut cleaning time significantly. There are even robot vacuum cleaners that you just need to turn on and they do the work for you. You can go here to learn more about them and find out which are the best ones in the market.
