Coastal Beach Scene Hand Painted Seashells

Coastal Beach Scene Hand Painted SeashellsI love the coastal beach life and everything that has to do with it. I’m a seashell collector and I love to go shelling. Over the past 35 years, I’ve amassed a large collection of shells that I love to show off and I use many of them in my crafting projects.

While down at the Jersey Shore I collected 4 big bags of seashells and I wanted to remember by special day on the beach. I decided to paint a beach scene onto one of my 6″ wide clam shells! Yes, this shell is a tad over 6″ in width!

If you enjoy painting on seashells or crafting with seashells…you’ll find over 70+ seashell craft projects right here on the Two Classy Chics blog! We will be sharing more seashell craft projects in the future too!

Coastal Beach Scene Hand Painted Seashells

Using the gold metallic acrylic craft paint…paint your uneven sandy beach along the lower 1/3 of your clam shell. To get good coverage, I used 2 coats of paint. Let dry. I used the turquoise metallic paint to cover the upper 2/3 of the clam shell, again, using 2 coats of paint. Let dry. Flip your seashell over and give the back side 2 coats of either the turquoise or gold metallic paint. Let dry.

To make the beach umbrella: I took a tiny clam shell and painted it with pink metallic acrylic craft paint, let dry. Cut a round wooden toothpick to serve as the “stick” for your beach umbrella. Glue these 2 items into place (see photo for placement) using the E6000 Adhesive Glue or Gorilla Glue (a super glue).

Finishing: You can glue on as many little seashells as you would like. I chose to glue 2 small ones on the left-side of my shell and a tiny starfish onto the right-side of my shell. I added a 4MM round glass pearl to the top which I think looks nice. One photo shows with the pearl and one photo shows it without. You can decide which look you like best!

You need to seal the shell by spraying it with 2 light coats of a clear acrylic spray sealer or by brushing on 2 light coats of Clear Mod Podge Sealer with a Glossy Finish. This will protect the painted finish.
