Easy Blueberry Crumble Recipe

March 7, 2019 by Carol

Easy Blueberry Crumble RecipeA few weeks ago Shelly and I purchased 7 large bags of frozen blueberries at a rock bottom price. Shelly has 2 large upright freezers for food storage and we do most of our bulk baking at her home. Blueberries are versatile and we use them in our baking all of the time.

Last week we decided to do some baking and made several batches of this delicious blueberry crumble recipe. The recipe ingredients listed below are for one batch and you’ll need one 9″ by 9″ square baking pan when you make it.

Easy Blueberry Crumble Recipe

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
3 tbsp. softened butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
3 cups blueberries, thawed and drained
Nonstick baking spray

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9″ by 9″ baking dish with nonstick spray. Set aside.

In a medium sized mixing bowl combine together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt and ground ginger. Set aside.

In a large sized mixing bowl beat together the softened butter, granulated sugar and large egg until creamy.

Alternating the flour mixture with the milk…add those ingredients to your creamy mixture in the second bowl until all ingredients are combined. Hand-stir in your blueberries until they’re distributed throughout the batter. Spread mixture into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.

Crumble Topping

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
2-3 Tbsp. softened butter

In a bowl combine all four ingredients together until you make a crumbly mixture. Sprinkle the topping on top of your berries in the baking dish.

Bake your Blueberry Crumble in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes or until done. The top will be a light golden brown when done. Remove and let cool on a wire rack. Once cool you’ll want to store it in the refrigerator.

You can serve this warm or cold. Some members in the family like it with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream on the top. The grandchildren like it with just milk poured on top too! It’s delicious!

I’ve always loved crumbles. That crumbly, crunchy top layer is so good. Blueberries would make this delicious.

This sounds delicious! Reading it reminded me of being a young child in South Carolina and picking blueberries in the hot summer with my Grandmother. I will be trying this recipe.
