At the age of 12 I was taught how to cross-stitch by my grandmother. Back in those days all young girls were taught how to do hand-sewing, cross-stitching, and embroidery. After a few days of basic lessons, my grandmother had me cross-stitching floral designs along the edges of pillowcases and bed sheets. Back in those days these type’s of handicrafts were a necessity if you wanted to add beautiful designs to your linens. These days…that craft has been loss thanks to machinery.

Let me introduce you to this brand new book release titled Whimsical Cross-Stitch by author Cari Buziak that contains more than 130 designs from trendy to traditional. There are motifs for everyone and their individual decorating style. All designs will fit into a 6″ or smaller embroidery hoop, making them quick projects that can be finished in an evening or during the weekend.
If you’re feeling ambitious, the small designs can be assembled to form a larger piece. Patterns are organized according to theme: animals; designs, including flowers and snowflakes; home and hearth, consisting of more than 40 patterns that range from a patchwork heart and an antique sewing machine to teapots, a watering can, and variations on “home sweet home”; nature; and charming patterns for special occasions. A brief introductory section offers advice on getting started, tools and supplies, and stitching.
This book has all kinds of beautiful motifs such as: birdhouses, celestial designs, seahorses, unicorns, coffee motifs, animals, loving hearts, country designs, fun holiday motifs and so much more!!! You’ll find fun alphabet letters to personalize your creations too. All of the charts are easy-to-read and to follow. This is a great book for beginners and/or expert stitchers. I’m pretty excited to have it in my collection and going to be using a few of the motifs to add some designs to finger-tip towels, pillow cases and two dresser scarves that I have planned. Fun stuff for sure!
