Turkey Pepperoni Pizza Bites Recipe

Hosting a party at your home this weekend for the big game? That’s right, the Superbowl is less than one week away. If you’re scrambling around this week looking for an easy-to-make recipe to serve to your party guests, we’ve got one for you today that’s courtesy of Julie Hartigan at Cooking with Julie. This recipe will make approximately 15 pizza bites.

Just four easy ingredients and a few minutes of prep! These pretty, lightened up takes on the classic pizza bagel are sure to be a hit with the crowd. Easy to make ahead, pack up, and reheat at the party or on the grill; this recipe uses one of my favorite healthy swaps! Turkey Pepperoni slashes the fat by up to 70% with all the savory flavor of regular pepperoni (& is available at your supermarket)!

Turkey Pepperoni Pizza Bites Recipe

Turkey Pepperoni Pizza Bites Recipe

2/3 cup chopped turkey pepperoni
2/3 cup pizza sauce
15 mini fillo shells
1/2 cup shredded part skim mozzarella
1 Tbsp. grated parmesan cheese
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil

Combine turkey pepperoni and pizza sauce in a small bowl. Spoon 2 heaping tsp into each filo shell, pressing down to fill. Sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan and place on a foil lined baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Cook for 5 minutes at 325 in the oven or toaster oven (or on the grill) to heat through and melt cheese. Garnish with basil and serve.

Tips:

Turkey Pepperoni for the win! It has the same savory flavor of regular pepperoni for 70% less calories and fat. Find it right next to the regular pepperoni at the supermarket.

Pick up premade filo shells in the freezer section of your grocery store near the pie crust and puff pastry. They’re fantastic to keep on hand for all kinds of lightened up appetizers and desserts!

The filling for this dish may be made up to 2 days prior to your party but bake and fill the shells when you’re read to serve for the crispiest results.

    These re easy to make. They would be eaten so quickly that would need to make a double batch right away.

    These sound so healthy and something I would love to make for a party. I have never tried mini fillo shells before and now I want to they look so light. Thank you for sharing this recipe and have a great weekend.

    I have never really considered using fillo dough for a savory treat. This is an easy recipe to make and I like that the filling can be made two days ahead of time. Also, I like using turkey pepperoni, as it is lower fat and calories.
