It is time for that special day of the year for a lover. It is special and also very very stressful because you want to do your best to give your best to your significant other. There are many ideas available on the internet –in fact there are so many that it can get overwhelming. Should you go with the pink theme or a red theme? Should you get chocolate or flower for decoration or chocolate-flowers for decoration and eating, both. Because why not? It’s a special day to go out of the way a do something different (or the clichéd, for the old schools).
The basics of preparing your home for a romantic Valentine dinner depends on your budget, the likes and dislikes of your significant other, and the kind of relationship that exist between the two of you. And though an overwhelming task, it is not a tough task to assemble a good dinner if done with the right ideas and love (Cheesy!)
Here are a few ideas!
1. Go simple and old school- It is hard to go wrong with plain simple roses, scented candles, chocolate and a well-prepared dinner for Valentine’s Day. Set the table with rose petals and candles and dim the lights. The looks of the whole setting give off a sweet and energizing vibe. It is perfect for those who want to stay simple and yet classy.
2. Origami time- Everyone loves origami. Putting up origami decoration for the dinner can be an idea different from the usual Valentine decorations. It can be a sight for sore eyes after being bombarded the whole day with the same valentine stuff. Using origami has its advantages as the level of decoration depends on each person and it is a budget-friendly idea as all you need is are origami papers and time. Though, it is something that takes time, so preparations might need a little extra push.
3. Get flower pots- Flowers are a must for a successful Valentine day and although, roses are the preferred choice, but that does not mean that you cannot use other flowers. Flowers are flowers; each one is as pretty as the other one. But one step ahead than getting different flowers, is to get small flower pots. Why kill the flowers when you can just get flower plants and keep them at your house? They won’t even dry up like the usual flowers that are gifted. They will be there even after the day is over symbolizing love and they are great to look at. They can be kept near the entry way or in the balcony, making the house looking pretty.
4. Get some hanging decoration- Fill the room where you will set the dinner table with cute little heart garlands, 3D heart hangings, etc. There are a lot of tutorials online on how to make them. The ones with a cute taste would certainly appreciate the sight of it. There ready-made pretty hanging available for those who are no good with crafts and still want to do it.
5. Instead of red or pink, go colorful- The usual theme for valentines is red or pink. But a little step outside the box would be so bad. After all, not everyone appreciates red or pink, in fact, some people hate the idea of the clichéd colors and decorations of valentines. A little yellow, green, blue, here and there would be a great combo for valentines. You can use them with or without red.
6. Balloons- get as many balloons as you can and fill the room with them. Again. The color could be red or pink or any other preferred color. Filling the room with balloons could take some time and effort so better get some help or get a machine to pump air. Have some helium ones and some to keep closer to the ground. Balloons go great with flowers too. It looks fun and is fun to play with –and later you can even use the balloons to get helium voice just for some giggles.
7. Chandelier- Buy a chandelier and hang it above in the room for the dinner. It doesn’t have to be too elaborate; there is chandelier available or different sizes and shapes. It will add a classy tough while still providing a gorgeous appeal to the room. They are beautiful and so wonderful to look at especially in dimmed out lights.
8. Suit everything to their likes and dislikes- The basic idea behind Valentine’s day is about having a good time with you darling. What better way to do it than prepared according to their choices. If it is a relationship that has been going for a while then you probably know then better than yourself and if you don’t then find out. Use a picture of you and them together and use a beautiful frame to put at the mantelpiece or the walls. Piece together a collage, write a heartfelt letter to them and have it all framed as well –a person who appreciated personal gifts would love gifts like these. It’s all about choosing things that will make the dinner memorable for both of you.
9. Get something permanent as a gift- Getting the place perfect for dinner is a heavy task and so is trying to find a gift for your date. How about doing both together? Like killing two birds with one stone. It could be something that they have always wanted to get done in the kitchen or dining hall like getting beautiful wall panel; like one of those architectural designs; or a 3D acoustic wall panel in the dining room; or even a hanging wall panel. It would be a gift as well something lovely to look at while having dinner.
On Valentine’s Day, it all boils down to having a great time with your partner. Anyone looking forward to doing something special like preparing a dinner with Valentine’s Day cocktails for the other is just doing their best to show them how much they are appreciated. It doesn’t take a lot as long as you have fun.
