Bread crumbs are a pantry staple that can elevate all sorts of foods to crispy, tasty deliciousness. At any given time, I’ve got three or four different types of bread crumbs on hand, but none as flavorful as the two new varieties I’ve just had the opportunity to try from Pereg Natural Foods, Thai Seasoned Sweet Chili Panko and Premium Whole Wheat Panko.

Pereg has a surprisingly extensive line of vegan, kosher-pareve, non-GMO, and all-natural bread crumbs. One reason for their high quality is that they’re made from fresh-baked loaves of bread, not stale old leftovers. And the great flavor of the seasoned varieties comes from the same spices and herbs that Pereg is famous for, some of which we’ve reviewed here at The Classy Chics.
But back to the bread crumbs! In using them over the last couple of weeks, I’ve enjoyed their crispy goodness in many ways. Because they’re so good even straight from the bag, I was able to serve stovetop mac & cheese with a crunchy topping simply by sprinkling Pereg’s panko bread crumbs on our individual servings at the table. As a coating, they work great for things like chicken nuggets and mozzarella sticks, adding amazing flavor as well as crunch. The Whole Wheat Panko’s deep, wheaty flavor and crispy texture enhances foods that don’t necessarily need more seasoning, while the Thai Seasoned Sweet Chili Panko’s sweet-and-spicy notes complement foods that can benefit from a flavor kick as well as crunch. I love it when a simple product like bread crumbs can help me effortlessly elevate the food I serve!
As I mentioned above, Pereg’s line of bread crumbs is quite large, with 11 different varieties. The 9-ounce packages have a handy zip-top seal, so the bread crumbs stay safe and fresh between uses. You can buy them directly from Pereg at their website, but you may be able to find them at a local retailer, too. For inspiration and ideas that will definitely get you cooking, check out the recipe section at Pereg’s website.
Beyond their bread crumbs, New Jersey-based Pereg Natural Foods produces a full line of spices and spice blends as well as premium grains, rice, beans, flours, and more. I’ve tried several of their products, and every one has been top-notch.

I like trying spices and flavors that are new to me, so I’d like to try some of the Middle Eastern spices, or the Asian spices, that they have. The zaatar looks good.
