7 of the BEST Adult Coloring Books

Four years ago I jumped on the adult coloring bandwagon as a way to relax and as a way to explore my creativity. I enjoy sitting down and coloring, then once my page has been completed, I often turn it into artwork for my home or use the page in various paper crafting projects.

Here are Shelly’s 7 Favorite Adult Coloring Books that have been featured on the Two Classy Chics blog.

1. Suzy Toronto: Over the years I’ve reviewed at least 4 different coloring books from the very talented artist Suzy Toronto. One of my favorite books by Suzy is called “Friendship”. Her designs are very detailed and whimsical, perfect for framing once completed.

2. Cosmic and Eternal Love: An Everlasting Love Story by artist Amrita Sen is probably my favorite coloring book…EVER! Not only is it a coloring book, but it’s a romance story that you read too! The designs are very detailed and beautiful. I completed the entire book last year and keep it sitting on a book shelf. Her designs are perfect for those of you who like working with glitter gel ink, colored pencils or watercolor pens.

3. Stress Less Coloring Butterfly Gardens: I have always enjoyed seeing butterflies and this book contains 100+ pages of beautiful butterfly designs! I have cut out some of the smaller designs from this book and laminated them in plastic to use as magnets on the front of my refrigerator. I’ve also turned a few of the pages into laminated bookmarks. If you love butterflies, this coloring book is definitely for you!

4. Jim Shore’s Angel Adult Coloring Book: This book contains 50+ Folk Art Angel designs with several of the designs that include 3D details. One of my favorite pages from that book is of a Folk Art Angel that is in a coastal/beach design with tropical fish and seashell paper 3D accents. It’s a really cool book, so make sure you check out my previous review to see some of the finished pages!

5. Stress Less Coloring By The Shore: I love the coastal and beach life, so naturally I’m drawn to this adult coloring book. Inside you’ll find 100+ coastal designs…including aquatic animals, seashells, beach life, the ocean, etc. You can turn several of the pages into framed artwork or cut out the smaller elements and use in your paper crafting projects. It would be the perfect coloring book to take on vacation along with you!

6. Stress Less Coloring Animals: Love animals? If so, this one is for you! Inside you’ll find 100+ animal designs, including land and aquatic animals. A lot of the designs would make the perfect framed artwork once their done! This book is perfect for adults, teenagers and older children who adore animals.

7. Creative Haven Fanciful Sea Life: I admit, this adult coloring book is definitely in my top 5 favorite books…EVER! Inside you’ll find 31 beautiful sea life and aquatic designs! This is one of those books that is perfect for colored pencils, glitter pens, gel inks and watercolor pens. I love the designs in this book and you can really get creative with them!

I’m often asked about the gel pens that I use when I’m coloring in the designs. There are many different companies who make these type’s of pens, however…I find that the BEST ones are made by Smart Color Art. You get 100 gels pens in the package in a wide range of different colors (every color that you would need) including neon, glitter, metallic, milky, brights, etc. Definitely the set you’ll need if you’re just getting started.
