How-To Videos for Sculpting with Play-Doh + Tips

How many of you have children or grandchildren who enjoy playing with Play-Doh? My grandchildren love it! Over the years we’ve purchased many different Play-Doh sets for them and I love how creative they can get! They will literally sit for hours, upon hours playing with it!

If you’re new to playing with Play-Doh or looking for some new ideas you should check out the official How-To Videos for Sculpting with Play-Doh over on the Hasbro website. We always turn to their website or to YouTube when we need fresh ideas. You can get some inspiration ideas from the A.C. Moore’s website too.

Sculpting with Play-Doh - Kitty Cat

One of our local craft supply stores hosts crafting with kids workshops every week during the summer months. For the past 3 years we’ve been taking a granddaughter to them. She absolutely loves going! They used to be free workshops, but now they charge $2.00 per child which is still a cheap price! Next year after school lets out you should be able to find a list of them on the A.C. Moore’s website.

A few weeks ago we took the Princess to one of the workshop classes and low & behold…it featured Play-doh! They made these adorable kitty cats at the class and I wanted to show it off to all of you today. Plus, I wanted to point out some free online sources that you could use when you (or the kids) need a little sculpting inspiration!

I have a few personal Play-doh tips to share with all of you. First, I gave my grandchildren some old glass cutting boards and silicone baking mats that I no longer wanted. They make for the perfect “non-stick” surfaces for Play-doh. Once they’re done playing…you can hand wash them or toss them into the dishwasher for easy cleanup. Next, we don’t store it in the original containers. We put each color into its own plastic zipper closure bag. Snack and sandwich size bags work best. Purge out all of the air and then zip them up. I find that this method keeps them from drying out…longer. Finally, go through your kitchen drawers! Give the kids your old cookie cutters, gelatin molds, plastic utensils, etc. to use with the Play-doh. It will entertain them for hours!

I was never very skilled with Play Doh, lol. The videos look pretty neat, though, so kids today would be able to really sculpt away!

  4. So cool! I’m going to have my son watch this. He was just asking to play with his Play-doh last night.
