I have great memories from my younger days, backpacking in the mountains and enjoying views few others have seen. I also recall dreading that moment when I’d have to get out of my warm sleeping bag on a cold morning. Today’s backpacker doesn’t need to worry about that, with the introduction of the Selk’bag wearable sleeping bag!

But the Selk’bag isn’t just for backpacking. Its wearable warmth is great during power outages, at sporting events, for sleepovers, to cuddle up on the couch, or when camping, RVing, or hunting. Imagine any time you need to stay warm but also need to be able to move around, and a Selk’bag might be the solution.
Basically, a Selk’bag is a mummy-style sleeping bag, but with arms and legs to enable the wearer’s mobility. Brilliant! Selk’bags are available in various sizes and colors, but the two basic styles are the Lite, perfect for indoor use, and the Original, for more extreme temperatures. Beyond that, they have a Star Wars series that is a hoot—adult and child versions styled like Darth Vader, Storm Trooper, Chewbacca, and Rebel Pilot! On a more serious note, an option for hunters or wildlife photographers is a Selk’bag in Realtree Edge camouflage, available in two different styles.
Every Selk’bag has amazing features that enhance its wearability. Their hoods have drawstrings so you can tighten them as needed. The reinforced-nylon booties will keep your feet warm, and when you want to walk around, you just zip the booties off and put on your regular shoes or boots. To help keep your hands warm, there’s elastic at the wrists, with attached hand covers that are easy to pull on and off. The kangaroo-style pocket on the front of the Selk’bag acts as a handwarmer, too.
The Original Selk’bag has a few additional features that set it apart. Aside from its warmer temperature rating, it also has a cargo pocket (ideal for stashing a phone), side entry zippers that allow access to your pants pockets or fly, and leg vents to help with temperature regulation.
For my review, I received a Selk’bag Original 6G in the pretty Chili River red color. I use it mainly to warm up when I get a chill indoors, but I’ve also worn it when doing outdoor tasks on cold days. At first, I confess I felt a little self-conscious in my Selk’bag, but as I got more used to wearing it, I began to embrace its quirky look. I love how my Selk’bag takes me from chilly to toasty warm in minutes.
Check out Selk’bag for yourself at their website and Facebook page. Selk’bags are available for purchase directly from Selk’bag and from a variety of online and retail sellers, too; there’s a listing with links at their website.

These would be lot of fun to wear. I am glad that they work so well at keeping one warm.
My husband and son would love this for camping. The Chewbacca one is so cute!
This would be perfect in our climate when it is snowing. I am telling you, snowblowing can get pretty chilly. This actually looks pretty comfortable, This would also e invaluable if the power went out in the winter!
That’s a clever invention. My friend goes to football games and this would be great for that.
I would love to have a couple of these for our family. I like your suggestions for use like sporting events and camping. I will have to keep this in mind for future gifts.
