Over the years I’ve shared my love for the beach life with all of you here on the TCC blog. In addition, I’ve shared many of my beach & coastal craft projects with you too!
At the age of 5 I visited the beach and the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. Ever since that visit…I’ve been to the beach at least once every year for the past 46 years. Matter of fact, since the year 2000…we’ve been visiting the beach a minimum of 3 times ever year.
We do a lot of traveling and we see a lot of beaches along the way, but we consider North Wildwood and Cape May in New Jersey our second home. Its beautiful there and we just love it! If you ever have the opportunity to visit North Wildwood (it’s different than Wildwood), I highly recommend it, especially the Anglesea area on the island.
Seven years ago I made the decision to change all of our home decor over to a coastal and beach theme. Not a nautical theme, but a coastal cottage theme. We have a big house, so it has taken me years to get things the way that I want them and it’s still a work in progress. Our landscaping outside is done in a beach theme too! If I can’t be at the beach 24/7…at least I can “feel” like I’m there!
I’ve had a few requests lately from our readers wanting to see some photos of my Christmas tree. Yes, I do a coastal themed Christmas tree every year too! All of the ornaments on the tree are beach and ocean related. The majority of them are store-bought and then there are about 25 of them that I’ve personally made. You can find those “craft projects” right here on the blog, like the hand painted Santa clam shell ornaments.
Our tree topper is by Kurt Adler and its made out of capiz shells and I love how it looks sitting atop our tree. The ornaments go all around the 5 1/2 foot tree. I need a bigger tree next year as I have about 50 ornaments that I couldn’t fit onto the tree this year. boo! I’ll be doing something about that next year for sure! On the photo above you can see the beaded garland that I made for our tree and an oyster shell Santa ornament.
On one of our wood entertainment stands I set up a display of 2 aqua colored mercury glass lit trees, 3 silver metallic mercury glass spheres and 2 snowman figurines. Next year I’m going to cover that surface with some faux snow and do a snowy landscape scene.
Well, there you have it! By request…a few photographs of Shelly’s Coastal Themed Christmas Tree for 2018. Enjoy!

Your tree is truly lovely and definitely reflects your coastal theme. It makes the entire room shine.
I love this theme and all the shell ornaments that you have shared this year. Merry Christmas!
I was ondering if you would use some of the craft projects! Glad to see you did. I think it is a beauty and I can imagine how much you enjoyed putting this one up. I love the colors.
Absolutely I did. I also used both of the beaded garlands that I made too!
Lovely tree and decorations. I like the starfish ornament.
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful pictures of your Christmas tree, I really enjoyed looking at them. I love the blue fish ornament that is super cute and looks great on your coastal beach theme tree. What a fun fresh idea thanks for sharing and hope you have a very Merry Christmas.
