New Year’s Eve is finally here and it’s time to say goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019. How do you like to celebrate? Do you do anything special?
When we had children still at home we always celebrated New Year’s Eve with a pizza and seafood party. Yes, we’re a seafood family! We would spend 4-5 hours steaming up shrimp, crab legs, lobster tails, oysters, etc. When it came to pizza, we always had it delivered by our favorite pizza joint.
After devouring a whole bunch of food we would sit down to play some of our favorite board games while watching a movie on TV. We would stay up late to watch the ball drop and then all fall into bed.
We’ve been empty nesters for the past few years and do things differently now. Sometimes we’ll go out for dinner & drinks with friends and at other times we’ll head downtown into the city to watch the strawberry drop & the fireworks show. It all depends on the weather and our mood. We no longer watch the ball drop on TV as it has become boring over the years and we don’t like the entertainment on TV leading up to and after it drops. Blah!
So, how do you like to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Do you have any family traditions? Things you like to do year after year? We would love to hear about it!

We use to g out much more than we do now. Here so much depends on the weather. If it has just snowed or is icy we do not go out. People are silly, and can’t drive. I guess because we dont live far from a fire stationwe hear to many sirens! We dd go to the casino th= this year they had nice bands and a champagne toast.
We have a really nice dinner on New Year’s Eve, watch a movie or visit with old friends and sometimes watch the ball drop on television if we can stay up that late. Happy New Year to you all.
I’ve never been a New Year’s Eve party person. I’m much more likely to just want to stay home and relax, maybe eat some good food.
We have dinner and drinks with friends, taking turns with the hosting duties. Always a fun time and a way to catch up with folks. We do make it to midnight to watch the local broadcast of fireworks.
We start our New Year’s Eve early in the day with board games that last all night and we snack all day and night. We take a break at about 11:55 to turn on the TV to watch the ball drop. We don’t care for the entertainment either, but the kids still get a kick out of watching the ball drop.
We now stay at home. We did have pizza last night. I was sleeping at midnight. I watched all the films this morning. That is what happens when you get old. 🙂
We too have always liked to have pizza on New Year’s Eve. Then we would play games and wait for the ball to drop in Times Square.
