Craft Project: Personalized Scrabble Tile Christmas Ornaments
Every year I enjoy sitting down and creating homemade Christmas ornaments to add to our tree, to give as gifts and/or to use as package toppers on the gifts that I’m giving. When giving them as gifts I try to come up with ornaments that will “mean” something to the person that I’m giving them to.

These Personalized Scrabble Tile Christmas Ornaments are really easy to make and whip up pretty quickly. I was able to make 14 of them in just 2 days. You don’t have to be an expert crafter to make them and they won’t cost you a lot of money!
If you’re looking to purchase the wood Scrabble Tiles I recommend that you get them from Amazon. You can buy small, medium or large sets. I went with a large bulk set, so that I would have plenty of tiles to use in other projects.
Personalized Scrabble Tile Christmas Ornaments
Wood Scrabble Tiles
Metal Eyelet Screws
Drill
E6000 Adhesive Glue or Wood Glue
1/8″ Wide Satin Ribbon
Scissors
Sheet of Aluminum Foil
Use a drill with a small drill bit to drill a hole into the top of one wood tile (the letter that will be used for their first name). Insert the metal eyelet screw into the hole. Mine fit in securely, so I didn’t need to add any type of glue or adhesive.
Lay a sheet of aluminum foil down onto your work surface. Lay out your wood tiles to spell out the names that you’ll be using. You will want the name to flow from north to south, to form a column so that it hangs nicely on the tree. In other words, to hang vertically.
I opted to use E6000 Adhesive Glue to glue my tiles together. You only need a tiny thin line along one edge of the tile to do that. I found that hot glue didn’t work as nicely. You could use wood glue if you have that on hand. Lay your tiles down on the sheet of aluminum foil to dry. By using the aluminum foil you’re protecting your work surface from the glue and your tiles won’t stick to the foil as they’re drying.
Once they’re dry you’ll want to cut your satin ribbon in a 6-7″ length and tie a bow around the eyelet. Trim ends with scissors to even them up. Now you can let them plain or you can add tiny decorations to them. Since I decorate in a coastal & beach theme, I added tiny little seashells & conch shells onto the ones that hang on my tree. You can opt to add a satin ribbon hanging loop through the eyelet or just use a metal ornament hook to hang them onto your Christmas tree.
