Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in a person’s life. Knowing that you are responsible for caring for the life of another person can be exhilarating, exhausting, and nerve-wracking. But, telling the world about your new addition is something most people want to do. Here are 5 ways to welcome the new beautiful addition to your family.
1. Party
Planning a party after you get home from the hospital might seem like a lot of work. However, it will allow all your friends and family to meet your new little one. And, if you are worried about the baby being exposed to too many germs, just make sure you stock up on hand soap and hand sanitizer. You should, of course, plan the party before you have the baby and allow for a little time to go by before the party. So, you might want to schedule the party for a few weeks after you get home. You will be able to let all the people, who would have otherwise wanted to stop over to meet the baby, see the baby and let them express how happy they are for you and your family.
Birth announcements are a great way to share the arrival of your beautiful baby, or babies. There are many ideas on how to do this. You can take the pictures yourself and upload to a website that does announcements. You can use props to make the picture cute and pose the baby. Or, you can use a candid shot that illuminates your baby’s beauty and personality. You can choose what is said on the announcement, so you can let everyone know the vital information about the baby. For instance, you might want to put date of birth, time of birth, weight, length, and name on the announcement. Or, you might want to put other information. When creating your own announcement, you are given control over what is said and how the card looks. A birth announcement is a nice keepsake for friends and family to hold onto for years, especially if you decide to send out a card every year with your child’s picture. Then, you can compare the photos and see the baby’s growth.
3. Photo shoot
A photo shoot is something you can do yourself or you can hire a professional to get it done. The photos can be taken using different clothing or props. A professional can use their expertise to get the baby in different positions to maximize cuteness. Sometimes, if you are doing it yourself, you might get overwhelmed or not have the kind of props you really want to use. So, if you want to save time, have a professional photographer, who has experience with infants, take care of the photo shoot. Then, after you choose the photos you want, you can get copies and send them to family and friends. They are a great keepsake for people to commemorate the arrival of your baby (or babies). Also, if you are having a professional do the photoshoot, you can include other members of your family in some of the pictures. It is a perfect time to get a family photo done or maybe a holiday card. And, many times, a professional will come to your home, so it is convenient for everyone.
4. Decorate nursery
Although you will have many of the items for the baby’s nursery, you might not have completed it. There are several reasons for this, but one reason might be because you chose not to find out the sex of the baby. Therefore, you might not have finished the painting and decorating of the room. So, while your little one is sleeping, it might be the perfect time to finish up the nursery and get all those baby shower gifts put away. Just make sure that if you paint the room, you let it air out. You do not want the baby breathing paint fumes. Let the baby sleep in a bassinet or travel crib until the room is sufficiently ventilated. But, you might just have wall hangings to put up, furniture to decorate, and clothes to go through. Whatever the case, finishing the room and presenting it to your newborn can be a great way to say, welcome home. Flowers for new born babies can help decorate the room and make it smell wonderful.
5. Social media blast
In today’s world, many things seem to be done digitally. With social media, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, you can communicate with all your friends with a few clicks of a button or mouse. Using these platforms gives you the ability to share candid shots of your newborn with friends and family. You do not have to wait for a photographer to come take pictures, pick out the ones you like, order them, have them printed, and send them out to people. Social media lets you put out those cute shots that are one of a kind to everyone who wants to look at them. And, unlike professional pictures, the ones you put on social media are unique and unplanned, making them a little more special. Having a platform to show your baby as he or she grows is wonderful and it lets you keep those images readily available forever (or until you delete them).
Finding a way to celebrate and welcome your newborn to your home is a personal decision. You can choose one way or several. Whichever you choose will let your friends and family know how excited you are about your new addition. It also lets people feel involved in your excitement and share information and pictures they might have taken with you and your family. Because, sometimes, when people are visiting your home, they might be taking their own pictures. It is great to be able to see them, and social media can provide that platform. So, enjoy your baby and look forward to sharing their lives with your friends and family members.
My son did all of these except the Social media blast. MY grandsons are on Lifecake, which is restricted to family and designated friends.
