BiomeBliss a blueberry-based prebiotic powderThere’s been a lot of buzz lately about probiotics, prebiotics, and how a thriving microbiome of “good” bacteria contributes to overall good health. Suppose I could tell you about a simple way to add prebiotics to your diet to nurture your microbiome without adding a lot of calories; well, it just so happens that I can! Allow me to introduce BiomeBliss, a blueberry-based prebiotic powder that you’ll love because it tastes great and is easy to use.

BiomeBliss a blueberry-based prebiotic powder

To begin, let’s consider prebiotics and probiotics for a moment. The people at BiomeBliss describe them this way: “While probiotics helps to balance friendly bacteria in your digestive system, prebiotics nurture the new and healthy bacteria the probiotic makes.” I’m no expert and can’t fully explain the nuances and benefits of maintaining a healthy microbiome, so I encourage you to visit the BiomeBliss website, where you’ll find a wealth of understandable information.

BiomeBliss’s vegan blend of ingredients is designed to provide maximum beneficial nutrients with minimum carbohydrates and calories. Again, the BiomeBliss folks say it best: “The inulin from agave helps control hunger, the Beta-Glucan from oats protects your digestive tract, the polyphenols and micro-nutrients from blueberries help to promote the growth of healthy bacteria in the large intestine.”

The easiest way to get your daily intake of BiomeBliss is to mix it with water for a tasty drink; the recommended amount is one scoop (about 4 tablespoons) of BiomeBliss in about one cup of water. My preference, however, is to add a scoop of BiomeBliss to plain yogurt or a fruit smoothie. My favorite BiomeBliss smoothie so far is about a half-cup each of frozen banana and Greek yogurt, a scoop of BiomeBliss, and enough milk to almost fill the cup that goes with my smoothie blender. A quick whir of the blender, and I’ve got a berrylicious drink that tastes amazing and is good for me.

After mixing with liquids, BiomeBliss thickens fairly quickly, so if you’re using it in a drink, be prepared to consume it right away. However, the thickening propensity of BiomeBliss means that mixing it with a small amount of water makes a nearly instant “jam” that’s just right for spreading on crackers or in a peanut butter sandwich.

You can find other recipes and inspiration for using BiomeBliss at their website as well as up-to-date information and promotions at their Facebook page.

I have no heard uch about prebiotics. I have heard of probiotics. I am a bit confused by the two, but learning. I like how this doesnt have the additional calories. I would think as you mentioned it would ‘gel’ up pretty quickly due to ingredients. I would likely try it in a smoothie too and I love Greek yogurt of any kind.

  3. This sounds super yummy and something I would like to try. I like that it has minimum carbohydrates and calories that is important to me.
