The countdown to Thanksgiving has begun and many of us have started our holiday preparations. I’ve got my menu planned out, my tablescape planned and picked up a few additional items to decorate my dining room. This year I’ll be hosting the holiday dinner at my house with 24 guests in attendance.

When it comes to a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Platter I’m all about the classic designs. I use an oval shaped platter that will hold up to a 15 lb. turkey with all of the trimmings. It’s important to have one that is large enough to hold the entire bird that you plan on serving. I recommend going with an over-sized platter, but that’s entirely up to you.
If you don’t have a platter or need to replace one that you already have…it’s important to go with a classic design that will mix-n-match with the dinnerware that you already have. In addition, you want the design to be fun and festive for the special occasion.

1. Melamine Turkey Platter – This platter is made out of melamine and is perfect for those of you who don’t want to mess with a breakable serving platter. It’s oval-shaped and is really colorful. This one screams the Autumn season, so if you’re doing a tablescape in the fall colors this one would be perfect for you.

You can mix-it-in with whatever dinnerware that you have and the design will never go out of style. It’s over-sized at 17″ and will hold a large bird. Another great feature is that it’s microwave-safe, oven-safe and dishwasher-safe. Perfect for someone who doesn’t want to mess with hand washing dishes!
4. Autumn Fields Platter – This oval shaped serving platter is made out of lead-free ceramic and is 18″ in length. It’s a really nice size and I love that design with the turkey, pumpkins and sunflowers which screams Autumn and the Thanksgiving season. I think it would look stunning sitting on your dining room table during your holiday meal.
5. Pfaltzgraff Plymouth Turkey Platter – I have a lot of Pfaltzgraff serving ware pieces in my home and use them all of the time. My grandmother has a complete Pfaltzgraff dinnerware set that she’s had for 15 years and uses it every day. These pieces are made out of earthenware and are made to be used daily, not just for special occasions. What I love about this one is that it can be used during the entire Autumn season, not just on turkey day.
