I’m the mother to a 3 year old little boy who has dental issues. His baby teeth started to come in late and some are impacted. His gums are extremely sensitive and since he has mouth pain, he doesn’t like to brush his teeth. His dentist is going to wait another few months and then will do oral surgery to remove the 2 impacted baby teeth.

In the meantime I’ve been using the MAM Learn to Brush Set which is great for a small child with toothbrushing issues. The bristles are really soft and don’t bother my son’s sensitive teeth or gums. Both of the included brushes are perfectly sized for his little hands and they fit comfortably in his hands. He can indeed use them by himself to brush his teeth.

Each brush has a red indicator strip on the brush head which shows you the amount of toothpaste that is recommended for an infant to use. After a few uses, my 3 year old son understood that he was to only put that small amount of toothpaste onto the brush thanks to the red indicator strip.

Another thing I like about this set is the Safety Shield that you attach onto each brush which helps to keep brushes at a safe distance from the back of the baby’s mouth. Totally ingenious! I think all toothbrushes for babies and small children should have Safety Shields!
