Happy Thanksgiving 2018

November 22, 2018 by Shelly

I wanted to take a few minutes out of my busy morning to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! My day started at 5 AM this morning with food preparation and will continue all morning long. Yesterday I spent 3 1/2 hours in the kitchen making homemade bread, dinner rolls and a few desserts. Thankfully (pun intended) I do enjoy cooking and baking, I just hate the clean-up!

Later this afternoon a few members of our family will be joining us for a holiday dinner. I’m really looking forward to enjoying a good meal and good company.

When our daughter was little we started a family tradition. Every Thanksgiving after dinner we would give her a new Christmas tree ornament and a small “early” holiday gift. When she graduated college and moved out on her own…she had a Christmas tree full of ornaments that had been collected over the years! Now that we’re grandparents…the tradition continues with our two grandchildren.

After dinner later today each of our grandchildren will receive a store-bought Christmas tree ornament and 2 ornaments that I made for them. So, every year they are getting 3 new ornaments to display on their family tree now and once they get out on their own…they’ll have a ton of them to decorate their own holiday trees. They will each get a little gift and then my husband will sit down to read them a holiday book.

Thanksgiving is a great reminder to be thankful for everything good in our lives. I’m thankful for my family, health, friends and the wonderful readers here on the TCC blog. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!!!

I hope your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Your family tradition of giving Christmas tree ornaments on thanksgiving night is so sweet! And I like that you have continued the tradition with your grandchildren.

That is a lovely tradition to give the ornaments especially the hand made ones. They will be remember forever. I think these traditions really help us bond as families and make so many memories.

Happy Thanksgiving! That’s a lovely tradition for the ornaments. My friend does the same each year with her grandkids.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your entire family. Thank you for all that you do. I love your blog so much and it has been part of my day for so many years now. It has been a busy week here that’s for sure shopping Monday and Tuesday and cooking all day yesterday and a little bit today I am spent. I too enjoy cooking but hate the endless clean up the big pans are the worst. Well, we have enough leftovers for several days so I won’t be cooking anything. I love your family tradition that is really sweet. I am still trying to decide if I am going to hit the stores tomorrow I think I might go to a few. I heard tonight on the local radio that several stores are opening tonight at 6pm I think that is so wrong those employees should be able to spend the holiday with their families what’s next starting Christmas shopping in July? Give me a break! I heard that people have been camped out all week here at the local Best Buy store waiting for it to open that is crazy! Not to mention we are starting to get snow here! I am thankful for family, friends and pets. God Bless.
