Nature Art Workshop Book – A Stunning Book of Nature-Inspired Art Projects

Nature Art Workshop - A Stunning Book of Nature-Inspired Art ProjectsMany readers of The Classy Chics enjoy crafting and the creative process. Let me tell you about a new book that will inspire you to get busy! Nature Art Workshop: Tips, Techniques, and Step-by-Step Projects for Creating Nature-Inspired Art (Walter Foster, August 2018) is a beautiful book full of ideas, designs, and instructions that is sure to have you collecting natural materials and reaching for your art supplies.

* Complimentary Book Received for Review.

Rather than having just one author, this book is a compilation of projects from six artists and five additional contributors, each with her own talent for using materials from nature or creating artwork depicting nature. The chapters cover easily accessible natural materials and projects using them, including Flowers, Stones & Shells, Wood, Other Natural Elements, and Nature-Inspired Art.

The wide variety of projects in the book guarantees that there will be something for everyone. Some are simple and use found objects, for example, the Simple Garden Mandala, which involves arranging flower petals and other materials in a pleasing design to be photographed. Other projects are more complex and require an investment in tools and materials, such as the Woodburned Constellation Coasters, for which you would need wood slices, felt, glue, a woodburning tool, and other supplies. There are some beautiful designs for painting on seashells, something a certain blogger from Pennsylvania knows a lot about and frequently shares with us (I’m looking at you, Shelly!).

Just browsing through the book is inspirational. After reading about the different ways to incorporate natural objects into art pieces, I find myself looking at the things around me in a new light, seeing the possibilities in the small beautiful gifts nature offers me right in my own back yard. Yes, I may make some of the projects in Nature Art Workshop, for gifting or to keep, but I am more likely to use the ideas in the book as a jumping-off point to create my own designs and mixed-media artworks.
