The Beautiful Cape May Harbor
I’ve been visiting the south Jersey Shore at least one time every year since I was 15 years old. My family used to spend every summer in Ocean City and then once my husband & I got married, we started going to North Wildwood. Now that we’re empty nesters, we travel down to Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May several times every year.
Every time we go down we like to spend an entire day in Cape May. It’s a charming Victorian-style seaside town with year-round activity. Some of the seaside communities close-up during the wintertime season, but Cape May is always open for business.
The Cape May Harbor is a really beautiful place to visit. You can sit and watch all of the ships, sailboats, barges and yachts go in and out the harbor. Some of the boats that we get to see are worth multi-million dollars and are quite fancy in nature. Other’s are more utilitarian in nature and used only for fishing.
There are a few restaurants and gift shops around the harbor area and one of our favorite’s is called The Lobster House. As you probably guessed, they serve lobster and all kinds of delicious seafood. It sits right along the water, so we always enjoy stopping in for dinner while we’re there.
Cape May is located at the southern most tip in the state of New Jersey. If you want to hit the beach while there, we recommend visiting Higbee Beach or Sunset Beach. Both of those beaches are FREE (no beach tags required) and offer free parking. If you want to play miniature golf, we recommend playing at Sunset Beach Mini Golf, it’s the BEST miniature golf course in the area.
Today I wanted to give you a little peek into Cape May Harbor and give you a few ideas on things you can do while visiting the area.
