5 Fun Halloween Decor Items for Your Front Porch

October 4, 2018 by Shelly

5 Fun Halloween Decor Items for Your Front PorchEvery year we start decorating our front porch for Halloween and the fall season during the end of September. When I decorate I like to use “cute” decorations, not scary ones and I certainly don’t enjoy items that gross you out. Nope, I’m all about the cute factor.

Before you get started decorating your front porch you want to give it a good overall cleaning. Next, if anything needs to be repaired or touched-up, now is the time to do it. When it comes to decorating, find a style that you like and stay within a budget that you set.

5 Fun Halloween Decor Items for Your Front Porch

Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkin Star House Flag

House Flags: The first thing that I like to change out is my house flag that hangs off of the front porch. I change it out seasonally and according to the holiday. When looking for a good house flag you want one that is printed on both sides and it has to be weather resistant. This year I’m swooning over this adorable Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Pumpkin Star House Flag over on Amazon. Wow, they have a nice selection of house flags this year.

Set of 3 Halloween String Lights

String Lights: Every year my husband hangs up string lights across the top roof area of our front porch and wraps them around our banister. String lights are really easy to hang and really set the mood. I’m digging this set of 3 string lights over on Amazon! You get one strand of the White Ghosts, a strand of the Orange Jack O’Lanterns, and a strand of the Purple Bats. Oh my gosh, they’re so cute! I think they would be fun for an indoor party too!

Halloween Scarecrow Hugger With Lantern

Battery-Operated Decor: For those of you who don’t want to mess with hanging up lights and running power to them…I recommend picking up a few items that are battery-operated. Running them on batteries isn’t expensive, especially if you pick up those batteries from your local “dollar-type” of store. My front porch has 3 columns and I’m thinking about getting this battery-operated Scarecrow Hugger With Lantern to hang around my center column. I think he’s adorable and I can use him indoors or outdoors! How cute is that? Too cute.

Halloween Fall Front Door Wreath

Front Door Wreath: A lot of people will use a Halloween specific front door wreath, I don’t. I use one that will work for both Halloween, the Fall Season and for Thanksgiving. Wreaths are expensive and I like ones that I can get the most mileage out of. This Halloween & Fall Season Door Wreath that I’m highlighting from Amazon fits that bill perfectly. The best part? It’s less than $26.00 which fits within my budget!

Happy Halloween Slip-Resistant Door Mat

Front Door Mat: I love door mats and change them out according to the season and/or holiday. They welcome guests to your home, set a festive mood and they help to keep the dirt from tracking into your house. Style and function! I think this Happy Halloween Slip-Resistant Door Mat on Amazon is absolutely adorable!!! They use exclusive artwork in their designs, so you won’t see this door mat being used all throughout your neighborhood! Adorable!!!

When it comes to decorating your front porch for Halloween and/or the Fall Season, what’s your style? Do you like the cute, classic or scary stuff? When do you typically start your decorating and how long do you leave it up before putting it away?

I love to decorate my porch. I have fall pants, a wreath, a scarecrow and an old Christmas Tree with lights, fall acorns and colored pine cones on it. I enjoy sitting out there all year long.

I change out my mat and flag with the season. I definitely like cute more than scary. I think I need to add some string lights to my Halloween decorations.
