Spiced Applesauce Quick Bread Recipe

September 18, 2018 by Shelly

A few years ago my mom gave me this recipe for Spiced Applesauce Quick Bread and I’ve been making it ever since. I typically like to make it in the fall, but you can make it all year long.

It’s a very moist bread thanks to the addition of the creamy applesauce. If desired, you can add-in a 1/4 cup of  your favorite chopped nuts or a 1/4 cup or raisins.  Heck, you could toss in both if you really wanted too!

Spiced Applesauce Quick Bread Recipe

Spiced Applesauce Quick Bread Recipe

1 1/4 cups creamy applesauce
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 medium eggs
3 tablespoons milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a bread loaf pan with oil or butter.

In a large mixing bowl beat together the creamy applesauce, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, medium eggs and milk. In a separate bowl sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and salt.

Pour flour and spice mixture into the wet ingredients bowl and stir everything together until well combined. I like to stir it by hand, but you can use an electric mixer on the low setting.

Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Place into a preheated 350 degree F oven and bake for approximately 45 to 50 minutes or until done. Remove and let cool on a wire rack. Once cool, store in an airtight container.

Note: I find that my quick or sweet breads will last longer if I place the container into the refrigerator instead of letting them sit out at room temperature. Just my 2 cents on that!

Very good flavors in this. I would follow your lead and keep it in the fridge (if there’s any left).

I like these quick breads and find that we all enjoy them for breakfast with some fruit on the side. I’ll have to look for creamy applesauce.

This article makes me think of my Mawmaw. She has been gone now for 30+ years but she was the sweetest woman! She owned a restaurant and boy could she cook. When I would stay with her in the summer time, she would make the most delicious foods and one of her specialties was Applesauce Bread. It was pure deliciousness. It was best sliced and toasted in a cast iron frying pan and then served with a couple patties of melted butter on it. My goodness, this certainly brings and smile to my face and a tear to my eyes.
