My son recently turned 3 years old and we hosted his birthday in our home and did all of the decorating ourselves. We enjoy hosting birthday parties for our children and this year we did a Construction Site theme for his party. My son is really into construction vehicles, diggers, dump trucks, bull dozers, cement trucks, etc. The perfect theme for him!

Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing some Construction Site Birthday Theme Party Ideas with all of you and linking them together. This was a really fun theme do to! If you like our Construction Site Birthday Cupcakes, you can check out our Birthday Cupcakes post.
One of the things we made for my son’s birthday party were these easy-to-make Paint Brush Rice Krispies Treats.
To make these you will need a few supplies. You can whip up a batch of homemade Rice Krispies Treats or go to your grocery store (which is what I did to save time) and purchase them already made. Square shapes will work, but rectangular shapes look the best. I purchase pre-made treats and took them out of their individual wrappers. If you’re looking to make homemade, you’ll find the Original Rice Krispies Treats Recipe right on the Kellogg’s website.
At my local craft supply store (in the baking section) purchased lollipop sticks, clear cellophane treat bags and white chocolate discs. You can buy colored chocolate melts or buy vanilla chocolate melts & add a little food coloring to them to get the color that you want. Place each color of the chocolate discs into a microwave-safe bowl and melt the chocolate according to package directions. While the chocolate is melting, insert the lollipop sticks into each of the Rice Krispies Treats.
Line a platter or large plate with aluminum foil. Dip each of the treats into the melted chocolate covering about half of each of the treats. You’ll want to get a nice coating of the melted chocolate onto each one. Hold the treat above the bowl and let the excess melted chocolate run back into the bowl. Lay each one down onto the aluminum foil so that it can harden up. Proceed to dip all of your treats.
Once they are done you’ll want to place your tray into the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes to allow them to firm-up even more. Remove from the refrigerator and place each one into a clear cellophane treat bag and fasten it shut. We made customized little tags for each of your paint brush treats and fastened that onto each one.
For display purposes at the party I decorated a red colored basket bin that I picked up at my local Dollar Store. They had Construction Site Stickers there, so I picked those up too! I cut a block out of yellow construction paper, used a black Sharpie Marker and made my label which states “Caution Wet Paint” and added a construction vehicle to it. Just attach it to the front of your display bin using tape. That’s it, You’re done!
I made these treats up 1 1/2 days before his birthday party and stored them in my refrigerator until party time. They were perfect and all of the kids (and the adults) at the party loved them!

This will be a party he remembers for a long time. The paintbrush treats are very fun.
This is a really cute idea. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this idea before. Kids would really get a kick out of this.
I’ve never made anything but “normal” rice krispie treats but these look like a lot of fun. My nieces and nephews would love them! They look yummy too. 🙂
this is such a cute idea and so simple. The children can help make it and at the first of the party and eat later. I want to do these.
Anther cute idea for a boys Birthday party! I can easily see this project being incorporated into a boys birthday party and no doubt they would enjoy it Rice Krispie treats on a stick are a wonderful idea…and no doubt they were popular with kids and adults.
