Halloween Craft Project: Painted Vampire Seashells

Halloween is quickly approaching and it’s time for another easy-to-make painted seashell design that is appropriate for the season. If you like painted seashells and/or river rocks, you can find a ton of different design ideas right here on our blog. Painting on seashells and smooth river rocks is fun and they won’t cost you a lot of money. The majority of these designs can be done by older children too!

Halloween Craft Project: Painted Vampire Seashells

Large Clam Seashell
Acrylic Craft Paint: Purple, Black, White and Red
Paint Brush, Water Dish, Paper Towels
Clear Acrylic Spray Sealer, Glossy Finish
Old Sheets of Newspaper

Line your work surface with old newspaper, especially if you’re doing this craft project with kids.

Base coat your large clam shell with 2 coats of vibrant purple acrylic paint and let dry. Acrylic paint dries fairly quickly and our seashell was completely dry within an hour.

Use black acrylic paint to add on Dracula’s hair…make sure you add the “v” shape in the middle of his hairline. You will use white acrylic paint to make 2 oval-shaped eyes. Use the red acrylic paint to make his lips/mouth. Let dry for about 30 minutes.

Add on his black eyebrows and a “U” shaped nose. Dip the end of your paint brush into the black paint and dot on his inner eyes (pupils). To finish up with the paint you’ll need to add his 2 fang-shaped teeth. If you’re not good at detail painting, you could use Sharpie Markers. Let everything thoroughly dry.

Lay down a sheet of newspaper outside. Place your painted seashells on top. Lightly spray a coating of the clear acrylic sealer on top of your painted design. If you’re going to display your seashells inside, one coat will do. If you’re going to display them outside, give them 2 coats of the spray sealer. If you don’t have the spray clear sealer, you can use Mod Podge in a glossy finish to seal in the painted design. Let thoroughly dry before displaying them.
