You’re planning your family vacation, but you don’t want to get stuck in a tourist trap or hover around crowds of people – you’re looking for something relaxed, fun, and maybe a little quirky. Not too boring for the kids, and not too in-your-face for the moms. If that describes you, you definitely want to look into spending your vacation in Arizona. The state boasts a huge variety of attractions, from theme parks to museums to national parks, Rebl Rentals in Arizona even offer luxury homes for vacation rentals in every corner of the state. The best bit of all of this? You can do it all on your own schedule.
Explore and Cool Off in Northern Arizona
Arizona has a reputation for being hot, and that’s not for nothing – temperatures in the summer can get up to 107 Fahrenheit or above. If you’re looking for somewhere cooler, though, you’re still in luck: northern Arizona gets cold enough that it even snows in the winter! Some of the most unique sites in Arizona are also found in the north, from the beautiful red rocks and picturesque views of Sedona to the tiny mountainside mining village of Jerome. Of course, a post about the sights in Arizona wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Grand Canyon, a huge, gorgeous national park about two hours north of the town of Flagstaff. The Grand Canyon is a must-see for anyone visiting Arizona – and the great part is that it’s close enough to Flagstaff (a college town, home to Northern Arizona University) that you aren’t trapped into the expensive tourist area. If you’re looking for a visually stunning, relaxing experience, you can’t miss northern Arizona.
Relax and Have Some “Me Time” in Central Arizona
If you’re going on vacation without the kids, or if you just want to sit in the shade with a cocktail, central Arizona is the place to go. Scottsdale, a beautiful suburb of capital city Phoenix, is one of the best “me time” places in the country. Many of the hotels in Scottsdale offer a free happy hour, and the city itself has a relaxed, slow vibe that really lets you unwind. Home to weekly “art walks” and a historic old town perfect for wandering around, there are also one-of-a-kind places like Taliesin West, renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s former home. In the evening, there are plenty of lovely restaurants, and if you’re feeling adventurous, you might even want to try a fun Scottsdale nightclub to let your hair down.
Stunt Shows and Gag Plays in Southern Arizona
Last but not least, southern Arizona is a blast for thrillseekers, history buffs, and theater lovers alike. In the historic Old Tucson Studios, you can watch Old West-style gun shows and tour film sets made famous in vintage movies – and if you like Clint Eastwood movies, you’ll recognize a lot. For something less high-octane, there’s the Gaslight Theatre, a parody and pastiche-based theater in Tucson complete with 50’s-style servers and food. For those more interested in the natural world, southern Arizona is home to the Sonoran Desert as well as the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a combination zoo, natural history museum, art gallery, and botanical garden. In Oracle, there’s Biosphere 2, a part-museum, part-research facility where you can walk through every biome on Earth in a few hours.
You might not think of Arizona as a vacation spot, but that’s the beauty of it: there’s so much to see all over the state that won’t be crawling with tourists. Whether you just want to relax with a glass of wine, explore the desert, see the Old West, or hike through a canyon, Arizona has you covered.

I have not been to Arizona in 50 years. I still remember the impact the Grand Canyon had on me. I would love to travel to Arizona again.
I like northern Arizona best. Sedona and Flagstaff are my favorites. And no one should miss the Grand Canyon.
