Once we received the Wemo Wi-Fi Smart Plug my husband read the instructions and then download the free app. It took him about 5 minutes as it is a super-easy process. Hubby said that every home needs a few of these smart plugs!
We do a lot of traveling and are always on-the-go. We like using our new Smart Plug to control the lighting in our living room. When we’re not home we can turn the living room light on/off, we can schedule it to come on and go off during certain times of the night and so forth. We can do all of this from our smartphone and/or tablet.
During the wintertime it will be completely dark outside around 5 PM in the evening with the sun not coming up until around 7: 20 AM. My husband gets home from work around 5:45 PM and once winter arrives, we’ll be syncing up the living room light to automatically come on around 5:20 every night, so that he’s not walking into a dark home. Our front door opens up into the living room, so we think this is an awesome use for the Smart Plug. We’ll also be using it when we travel.

I think that this would be much easier and safer to use than a dial timer. This is the first time I have heard of this product.

Sarah, that’s what we had until we got this gadget. We really LOVE this thing and want to get a few more and get some for holiday gifts. They’re easy to use, help to make our lives easier and I love that it can help to deter thieves because you can easy adjust your settings from anywhere!

We don’t have a smart plug in our home; however, we have the old fashioned plug in with a dial timer. I like your idea of using your smart timer on a daily bases and not just on a limited bases such as for Christmas Trees.
