How many of you watch Rachel Ray’s TV show? I do once in awhile, but husband is a big fan and will watch as often as he can! Last month when we were on vacation he would get up early in the morning and get his Rachel fix before we walked out the door.
For our July 4th family get-together he wanted to do something fancy with our watermelon. He had seen other people carve theirs into beautiful sculptures and wanted to give it a try. For some ideas he went to the Rachel Ray website and found exactly what he wanted.
On the website you’ll find the How to Turn A Watermelon into an Adorable Cat Centerpiece Video. He watched the video and made a few little notes and then headed into the kitchen. I wasn’t allowed to watch him “work” so once he was done (about 30 minutes later) he called me into the kitchen to see his masterpiece.
Wow…I was really impressed with his watermelon carving skills! His cat turned out fantastic and all of our party guests complimented him on it. It sure looked adorable sitting on our picnic table and I think he did a wonderful job making it.
The family will be getting together again for our annual Labor Day picnic, so my husband will be in-charge of designing the watermelon centerpiece. He’s already on the hunt for the design that he wants to try next. Have you ever carved your watermelon into a fun design?

My daughter-in-law would love this cute watermelon. I enjoy watching the Rachel Ray show and have found some good ideas in them.
This is adorable! This would be so cute for a summer barbecue, the little ones would love it! I’m definitely saving this one. 🙂
This would be so fun and cute for my friends who are cat lovers – myself included. Makes such a nice centerpiece.
Lol, I love it! It’s cute, and it would be great for a Summertime BBQ or get-together.
I wish my mother in law was alive. Every time I see a cute cat idea I think of her and how much she loved her cats.
That is such a cute idea. I think the girls can do that for labor day lunch. Thank you for the idea.
I’ve never tried to make art from a watermelon. This is very cute..
This looks so fun! I have likely mentioned at some point I do TNR (trap neuter release ) and spay feral cats. I attend some functions when they have them where ‘cat folks ‘ and wildlife rehab get together . This would be a fun thing to take along on occasions where it is a potluck as some are. I think it is darling!
This is such a cute idea for a birthday party, cook out or picnic. I so want to make this thank you for sharing the idea I have never seen this before and I think it is so clever.
