When I was a little girl I used to sit and watch my grandmother and mother crochet. They would spend days and sometimes weeks working on pillows, blankets, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, home decor and toys for the family. I was always amazed at the items that they would create.
At the age of 13 years old I was finally taught how to crochet by my mother. During those first few years I could only do a few basic stitches and mostly worked on afghans and scarves. Fast forward 40+ years and I can sit down and crochet just about anything that you put in front of me. I love the things that I can create and its a great way to relax and reduce stress. Crochet is really easy to do…once you learn a few basic stitches.

My Thoughts: I love to crochet and being the grandmother to 2 small children, I LOVE this book! The majority of the designs are unisex and a few are more gender specific. The motifs include: Jeffery the Elephant, Rusty the Giraffe, Sassy the Kitty Cat, Rock ‘n Roll Panda, Chip the Monkey, Cranky the Crab and Tops the Dinosaur.
In addition to the included patterns, the author gives you useful information to help you get started and has a chapter explaining the various crochet techniques that are used in the box. Some of the projects require a little bit of sewing, so she includes a sewing stitches section too.
As you all know…I decorate my home in a coastal & beach design so when I saw the Cranky the Crab design I fell in-love! There is a crab rug, a crab pillow and a crab security blanket. Oh my gosh…way too cute! My grandson is into dinosaurs so I want to make him the Dinosaur Pillow (x2) for Christmas. My granddaughter is still deciding on which project she would like.

I learned to crochet when i was a child, but I never did more than a regular blanket and pillow for my children. It would be fun to learn to crochet animal rugs.
