Carbona Washing Machine Cleaner with Activated Charcoal for a Well-Maintained Washer
It wasn’t until I got my front-loading high-efficiency (HE) washing machine that I realized how important it is to regularly clean the washer itself. Like many front-loaders, it frequently developed a musty smell. My new machine is a top-loader and doesn’t have that problem, but I still clean it. Carbona recently sent me a bottle of their new formula, Carbona Washing Machine Cleaner with Activated Charcoal to try, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

For one thing, it is simple to use. For washers with removable detergent dispenser drawers, you soak the drawer in diluted cleaner for 30 minutes. If you have a front-loader, you’re instructed to wipe the rubber seal around the door with a small amount of the cleaner and rinse it with a damp cloth, then pour the remaining product into the detergent dispenser and run a normal wash cycle using hot water. For my top-loader, all I had to do was pour the full bottle into the machine’s tub, then run a normal wash cycle using hot water. Easy peasy! Just like that, my washing machine was refreshed and clean, ready for the next load of laundry.
What really sets this new formulation apart is that it’s the first washing machine cleaner made with activated charcoal, which is well known for its ability to absorb and eliminate odors, impurities, and contaminants. Carbona refers to it as a “sponge magnet” because of the way it “attracts and binds odor-causing residues, dirt, and limescale.”

Last summer, I got into some poison ivy, and washing all of the clothing I thought might have come in contact with the poison ivy was a nightmare. I was worried that traces of the plant might linger in the washing machine, contaminating future loads of laundry. I wish I had the Carbona Washing Machine Cleaner with Activated Charcoal then!
The suggested retail price of an 8.4 fl. oz. single-use bottle of Carbona Washing Machine Cleaner with Activated Charcoal is $3.99. To me, this is a reasonable price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with knowing that my washing machine is truly clean, and so is my laundry.
