The Best Wedding Gift Ideas for Newlyweds

Do you know someone who is getting married? Are YOU getting married? Planning a wedding is an exciting and stressful time in a couple’s life. With each completed task, the excitement and stress increases. That is exactly how it was for my husband and I. We recently married in the beginning of June. It was a perfect day, but the perfect day required a lot of hard work, sweat and tears!

One of the best parts about being married was the opportunity to experience all the love from our family and friends as we opened cards and gifts. Although never expected, newlyweds appreciate gifts. So, what do you get a couple for their wedding? There are many options available to you, and I’d like to share seven gift ideas in no particular order.

The Best Wedding Gift Ideas for Newlyweds

Cash Money

Cash

I think one of the most preferred gift methods is cash. Giving cash to a newlywed couple, gives them the opportunity to spend it on whatever they want or need. A lot of couples will use the cash for spending money on their honeymoon, especially those that leave right after their wedding. They also can use the money towards completing their wedding registry…it can help towards their more expensive purchases. Lastly, those more financially conscious will save or invest the money they received from their wedding. As you can see, the possibilities are endless.

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

ALL homes should have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer. It is super versatile; especially with the many add-on’s now available. It’s the perfect gift for cooks, bakers, and entertainers. My husband and I have one that we use during EVERY holiday. We host, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years at our house every year for my husband’s family. We use it to mash our potatoes. When you are making food for 10+ people, a stand mixer sure comes in handy. It can mash your potatoes or anything else that needs mixing while you tend to the turkey or any other dish that needs to be completed. Kitchen Aid Stand Mixers are also super useful when making multiple batches of cookies!

China Dishes

A China dish set is a perfect gift for newlyweds, especially those that aren’t established yet. China can be quite expensive, and isn’t something that a lot of us can afford. Your newlyweds will adore a set of China dishes and will think of you when hosting their first holiday meal or dinner party with friends and family. Not to mention that dishes are usually the first items an engaged couple places on their registry. When my husband and I made our registry, our wedding coordinator encouraged us to pick out a set of dishes, even though we already had a set. Dish sets can be pretty expensive, so this would be a GREAT gift to go in on with mutual friends.

Roomba Vacuum

Roomba

Everyone has a vacuum…it’s an important home staple. In addition to a vacuum, a iRobot Roomba is very beneficial. My husband and I have three adorable cats…all of who shed uncontrollably. Before our Roomba, I was vacuuming the living room, hallway, bedrooms, and kitchen about three times a week. Vacuuming takes up a lot of my time that can be put elsewhere. Since purchasing a Roomba, I only have to vacuum once a week. We run the Roomba twice a week to help pick up all of the cat hair. It works on carpet and hardwood floor surfaces. A lot of the models allow you to schedule cleanings…this means your Roomba can clean in the middle of the day while you are away from your home. Having a Roomba allows you to focus on other chores that need to be done. It’s honestly one of the best purchases we’ve ever made.

High-Quality Bed Linens

Everyone wants to sleep like a king, but a lot of us cannot afford the luxury of Egyptian cotton 1000 thread count sheets. Surprising the bride and groom with a nice set of sheets and comforter set will give them the opportunity to feel like royalty. Good quality bedding will last the married couple many years. As they say, the higher the quality, the longer the lifespan.

Home and Garden Store Gift Card

Hardware Store Gift Cards

There is ALWAYS work that needs to be done around the house whether cosmetic, internal, or external. Gift cards to hardware stores allow the bride and groom to chose which project to start. My husband and I love gift cards to Lowe’s. Once we return from our honeymoon, we plan to repaint the bathroom, hallway, living room and kitchen inside AND re-landscape the outside. Remodeling is extremely expensive, so gift cards are always welcomed to help us get the job done!

Custom Canvas Wedding Prints

Custom Canvas Prints

For those of us who are more sentimental, capture their love with a canvas photo from their special day. Canvas on the Cheap is a GREAT website to order the perfect picture. They offer a variety of sizes starting with an 8”x8” all the way to a 30”x40”. Their prices range $60.53-$369.10 and are currently on sale for $7.75-$47.98…this is a HUGE steal!! There are other options available to choose from such as canvas depth and framing options (these options will cost extra). After I placed an order through Canvas on the Cheap, it didn’t take long for it to arrive. Once shipped, you will get a tracking number, so you can keep track of where your photo is. I was so excited when the canvas photo arrived. It was even better than I pictured. I can’t wait to hang it up in my home. Place your order today by visiting www.canvasonthecheap.com. You won’t be disappointed!

I hope the wedding gift ideas listed above are helpful to you as you decide what to get the newlywed couple for their wedding. The ideas listed about are just a few of my favorites, but the possibilities are endless depending on the couple. Their needs and wants may be different than mine. No matter what gift you give, your newlywed couple will be grateful and appreciative that you helped them to make their day so special!

These are great ideas on what gifts to give to newlyweds. I would have wanted them when I was married.

  2. I usually try to find something on the wedding registry and if I don’t find something than I give a check. My kitchen aid stand mixer is over 10 years old and works like a charm so I agree that would be a good gift also.

I always wonder what to give newlyweds. I love it when they have a wish list. I would like to get a gift card toward something expensive like the mixer or roomba. These are more than I would spend except on my children, but I like to contribute toward it.

Such a lovely picture! Congrats to you both!. I tend to give practical gifts as much as possible. I do gift cards to places they enjoy (if I know where they like to shop) I have also done grocery store cards. I do not do cash h= that much just because I always wonder if I have done enough :/ You have some good suggestions!

  5. Thank you for these great idea I will keep these in mind for the next wedding I am invited to. I really like the Roomba idea and also the mixer.
