Classic Homemade Waffles Recipe
Ahhh, Breakfast. It’s one of my favorite meals of the day. When I stay at my daughter Shelly’s house for the weekend I look forward to getting up early and making a big breakfast for the family. One of the things they like to request? Your classic homemade waffles! They love waffles with each of them loving a different type of topping or syrup.
Here’s a little tip for you. When placing fresh fruit on top of your waffles, you want to place the fruit on once your waffles have come down in temperature. We let them sit for 5 minutes before topping with fruit. If you’re going to enjoy them with just syrup on top, well, you can pour your syrup on while they’re piping hot.
Classic Homemade Waffles Recipe
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 medium eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a large mixing bowl combine together the all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder and granulated sugar.
In another large bowl beat together the medium eggs, milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the first bowl, beating until all ingredients are well blended together.
Preheat waffle iron. Once fully heated, ladle the batter into the waffle iron. Close lid and cook until the waffles are lightly golden brown. Remove and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
