Family Movie Night: Alex and Me

My daughter is 9 years old and 2 years ago she got interested in the game of soccer after watching it on TV. A few weeks later we enrolled her onto a local team and she’s been playing ever since.

Alex & Me is a wonderful family-friendly movie being relased onto Blu-Ray and DVD starting on June 19th. Here’s some more information about it.

Soccer superstar Alex Morgan scores her movie debut with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in the full-length feature film Alex & Me on Digital starting June 12, 2018 and Blu-ray™ & DVD on June 19, 2018. Also featuring Nickelodeon star Siena Agudong (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn and the upcoming Star Falls), the film follows the uplifting story of a young female athlete who learns how you need passion, determination and self-worth to make all your dreams come true.

Movie Synopsis: Teenager Reagan Wills has one dream, to play soccer like her hero Alex Morgan. In fact, her room is a shrine to all things Alex, including a life-size poster of the Olympic Gold Medalist. Yet in the Wills house, Reagan lives in the shadow of her superstar brother Logan, the MVP of his high school football team. When Reagan fails to make the top club soccer team and is humiliated by her rival Claire, she’s certain her ship has sailed. But after Reagan accidentally hits her head, her poster of Alex Morgan suddenly comes to life and everything changes. Alex & Me is an uplifting story of the passion and drive it takes to succeed and the power of family to help you realize your dreams.

We sat down as a family last weekend and watched the movie together. The story line in the movie is well-written and keeps you entertained from start to finish. The acting in the movie is okay, but in certain spots I feel it could of been a little bit better. One of the things I really liked about the movie is that it’s family-friendly and that it teaches our kids some valuable life lessons. If you work hard, you can succeed. If you fail the first time, you work harder and keep trying, to never give-up.

My mom doesn’t let us give out movie spoilers on the blog, but I will tell you that it does end the way that you think it should. Since receiving the DVD my daughter (and a few of her friends) have watched it several times and they continue to enjoy it.
